well, anyway, about the new speeds
my kit should manage 4Mb/s I hope they don't, ever, try to put me up to 10
- I'd need a new router, for a start
<edit> I said 4 Gig

Re: New Speeds - June 1st
I am one if not the only person on 10mb who gets full speeds, and unlimted will be welcomed by me
Sounds great and the 512k upload is fine with me, 1mb would be the dogs nut's but I think give it time and NTL will do this.

From 1 June, ntl customers taking the cable companyââ‚à ‚¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢s 2Mb service will receive a free bandwidth boost to up to 4Mbp/s, at the same price of £24.99 a month. The upgrades will be carried out on a rolling basis throughout June.
ntl will also remove the 75GB usage allowance from its up to 10Mb service, meaning the 1Mb, 4Mb and 10Mb broadband tiers will all offer the freedom of uncapped surfing. All services will also continue to include the ntl Netguard PC security package.
Chad Raube, director of internet services at ntl Telewest, said: †œWeâÃÆ ’¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â€Š¾Ã‚¢ve got a solid track record of giving customers more for their money and these broadband upgrades are the latest example of how weâ₠¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚¢ll continue to add value.ââ‚Ãâ €šÂ¬Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â
Consumers can find out more about ntlââ‚Âà ‚¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚¢s bundle of digital TV, broadband internet and telephone services at www.ntl.com/home.
Notes to Editors
On 3 March 2006, ntl Incorporated completed a merger with Telewest Global, Inc. creating the UK's largest provider of residential broadband and the UK's leading provider of triple play services. The company operates under the name of ntl Incorporated.
ntl offers a wide range of communications and entertainment services to more than 5 million residential customers. ntl's networks can service more than 12 million homes - 50% of UK households - and 85% of UK businesses.
These broadband service changes will effect ntl customers, not households currently receiving Telewest services.

Re: New Speeds - June 1st
I couldn't find any info on this using search so -
Does anybody know how my creaky old terajet will handle the new 4Mb service. I don't want to change my beloved black box.
Thanks.

Re: New Speeds - June 1st
Might get some decent ntl pricing soon, Bulldog are now offering upto 16meg adsl, for £24.99 unlimited usage.
At least all this cut pricing can [not always] be good for the consumer: us.

Steam usually can't count, but who knows, do NTL actually show when upgrades are complete? And why not check the modems config to see if you are actually on 4Mb ?

It will handle it easily. I'm on 10meg with a Tjet and get 8.1meg so 4meg will be a p**** of p*** for it.

Re: New Speeds - June 1st
How about my trusty NTL home: 100 modem?
It currently does 2Meg with no problems - always get average of 1.95Meg on the DSLZone speed test
Will it do 4Meg when i get boosted in June?

funny thing is ,when i re-joined in nov, the modem was set for 2mbit/256kps, but now its droped to 2mbit/200kps,
since my lad has been starting his game servers for a few weeks now, i miss that extra 56k at these times.
i suppose marketing did that so they can say double the upload rate, but i think its wrong of them to do that, even if we only have a few weeks until we get the better upload rates.

Youll probably find that changed a while back. Ever since I was on 2Mbps its been 200Kbps upload.

Re: New Speeds - June 1st
I hope we dont have to wait the whole month and can just upgrade online like the upgrade for 1mb to 2mb. If it can only be done by area by area basis i bet i will get it at the end
