Loss of Service - daily

Hi,

I live in the Ipswich area and I'm continuing; nearly on a daily basis to lose my broadband service.

My router reports back my IP being 192.168.100.1 (which is the modem right?) and as this has occured the far right light on my modem flashes...

It can take 5 mins to come back or sometimes up to an hour?

Is this something NTL are causing do you know?

Thanks...

Impossible to say based on the info available. I know it's a pain but have you tried phoning them? That really should be your first port of call...

In simple terms it usually means that an engineer will need to come out and tweak your levels at the green box.

Cable TV and Broadband is very sensitive - it can fail if the signal coming down the cable is too strong as well as too weak. It has to operate within a certain power range. Sometimes the signal can drift out of range, and the result is you get intermittent or lost service.

They will come and fix it, and if they can repair it by mucking about in the green box in the street you may never even have the tech knock at your door - they have done this to me in the past, although personally I'd prefer it if they did knock to confirm the job is done!
