NTL refuse to change modem

Just been off the phone to technical support, first time, they refused to change my modem because they said there was no problem with the mode.

Second time we called they said there was no problem and to call customer services who would be able to change my cable modem for a charge of £20.

I've emailed NTL before who have told me that the automatic reset rate for my modem is 341 which is excessivly high and that i should call technical support to get the modem swapped free of charge, well as you can see above they won't.

I've been getting disconnected constatly, the modem disconnects and reconnects after about 3 seconds, this has been happening since October and i'm now FED UP.

Why do they make it so hard for us customers, what is the big deal with changing the modem, we explained that NTL are already booked to come to our house to install broadband in another room.

Does anyone know any good providers which charge around £17.99-£19.99 per month with atleast 40GB usage every month? Has to be faster then 1MB too, because we're being charged £19.99 for 2MB Broadband with NTL.

Re: NTL refuse to change modem

You should be able to just demand a modem, tell them what's happening, and even get an engineer out if possible, they should change i when they realise its severely messed up. (afterall, you are in efeect paying for one)

Or, you could get one of the insiders in here to pass your details on. But, i don't know who these insiders are unfortunatly.
Good Luck.

Erm the "insiders" that you can pass information on for help would be any forum team member, Russ, Chris W, Chris C, Mick, Neil etc.

Re: NTL refuse to change modem

Try a team member too before you cancel, they often can get things sorted quickly. When that is done you can then feel free to vent your spleen at NTL via the responstek form

Re: NTL refuse to change modem

If you don't get anywhere with CS tomorrow (which you won't btw because they are closed on sundays) then PM me your account number, name and a contact number and i'll pass them onto ntl to get this resolved.

However, I believe ntl are currently doing system upgrades so nothing can be sorted until tuesday at the earliest.

Re: NTL refuse to change modem

An NTL engineer is coming to our house on Tuesday to install Broadband in another room, do you think he'd have some modems in his van and he'd swap it for me?

Thank you for your help everyone I appreciate it, but it isn’t my account, I do use the internet though to know that these problems happen.
