Re: Speed upgrade
???
Err I suppose you are right. Its terrible that Ntl and Telewest only offer 10MB now. I mean it is only 2MB faster than most of the competition (when it works)
Is that not good enough for you?

Re: Speed upgrade
Would like to know which ones are cheaper? Most I have seen and come across are like.....8 meg ADSL BB for £xx.xx you sign up then find out that the bt exchange you are on can only cope with 512k or 1 meg at best...this has happened to several of my friends.

Re: Speed upgrade
im on 2mb, you can never not get enough speed tho. The others i were on about are the many that just for 2mb only charge aroung 17.99 or less like BT, tiscali, virgin and many others and wannado can offer UPTO 8mb for 17.99. where as ntl offers 2mb for 24.99 a month

Re: Speed upgrade
you may get the speed, but you dont get the usage time. Many of those have capped usage, NTL is unlimited. You may wanna check that out. They could possibly have enough usage for you though if your not too big of a user

Re: Speed upgrade
for broadband ntl is appearning worse value for money everyday.
essentially its proxied may soon be shaped, priced higher then competition and fluctuates heavily in performance.
the only positives I can see is that they still give you an unmetered option, its free install, online instant speed upgrade and the cap isnt enforced on the top tier.

Well, you saved me replying by saying my thoughts exactly. The only thing stopping me from moving is inertia - i.e. I can't be bothered. I wouldn't need much more of a prod to start doing some research into what's out there though. In the past, it's been expensive but reliable. Not too sure now though.

Trust me i did not find it that difficult in the end. All the hard work has now been completed, I am just waiting for the end game, Ntl to Bt Number port, Then ukonline to connect the adsl2+ .

Re: Speed upgrade
Plus you require a phone line at an extra cost....no one EVER says this when they write about how cheap this deal is etc.

For me it breaks down like this.
I had a
NTL telephone line £10.50
Ntl Broadband upto 2 meg "dial up speed for the last 2 months" £24.99 [to match what i am now getting that would have to be £34.99 ie 10 meg]
I now have or will have by the 13th of april
Bt telephone line £11.00
Ukonline upto 22 meg "should get about 14-16 meg on my line" £28.99
Slightly more in cost on a stright comparison unless you take in the fact that i would have to have NTL 10 meg to match this at £34.99, but i get this from my new deal faster speeds, no proxies, Caller display, Online billing, And no one telling me that my connection is so slow because i have spy ware , Virus, wrong operating system, To slow a pc "athlon fx55" anything other than the real reason which is my ubr is oversubscribed.
So there you go i have said how much the phone line is. Next excuse please
