Re: Traffic Shaping

If your connection is down then you will probably have a fault. Call tech support.

Do you work for NTL?

If the problem is on NTLs side of the connection it doesn't matter how much IT training you have, how can you fix it?

Indeed fawkes thats my point, there is nothing I can do too fix the problem it is NTL, so refering back to my first points #$%^ them I am leaving. I pay for a service, well I wont be paying for this service. I will be adding a new clause of my own by accepting my payments they agree to provide the previous service level or I expect compensation. I will let you know what they respond with. Im only sending it as a joke now but I urge you all to leave NTL as I will be, vote with your actions on what we will accept as customers. Remember NTL is a share holder lead company. If thier actions reduces share value they will reconsider the board will listen.

Teach them that they are a consumer SERVICE provider. There are many others out there, some cheaper, why suffer it?

Alone we will achive nothing, together... we could bankrupt a company.

you'll need to get tens of thousands of customers to cancel with you then if you want to make an impact. in order to bankrupt the company you'd need hundreds of thousands of customers to cancel.

In theory thats not true (actuality probably very true), if you understand how economics works and the stock market it only needs a spurt of people quiting too start the bears selling up bringing the market share on a free fall. Its more about the timing than the numbers involved.

Ok then, anyone thinking of leaving, join me on leave on June 1st, it will give us time too find another provider.

To the movement

Re: Traffic Shaping

Ok, NTL are starting to annoy me now..

I wrote quite a helpfull response to the OP, took me 10mins or so. It was slightly in NTLs favour but basically explained that all peices of technology have problems from time to time, and that as the first fault in 5 years this was pretty good going for any ISP. Also, that if he dident call NTL how are they to know that he has a problem with his connection, and included several examples for this, eg how are NTL supposed to know about a faulty modem. So with this masterpeice all nicely typed and spellchecked, I move the mouse over to "submit reply", and click.........

"DNS error, cannot connect to server", I clicked on back, and the post wasent there

So, I glance over at my NTL modem and the sync light is flashing - I guess I jynxed it trying to defend NTL on a public forum. Damm, wont bother next time

Unless you somehow have access to NTL's testing hardware and software, and can attempt to repair whatever has gone wrong with NTL's network, you will need to call faults (or Tech support). I have a Computing Science degree and still have to do this.
