Although it appears that it will be on a trial basis, & it will only last for 12 months.

Re: BBC Confirm Hi Def World Cup
So if I watch BBC1 through my HDTV on either the Sky BBC feed or its internal Freeview then I should get a better picture ?!

HD is such a jump from SD that we currently have (Standard Definition), if you remember the jump in picture quality from VHS>DVD then you will be on the right lines, but you will need relevant hardware such as an HD Ready TV & either Sky HD or ntl/Telewests HD service.

Yep, looking forward to it. Got a 26" Phillips HDTV Ready LCD-TV with integrated digital tv. Also Sky+ downstairs (no HDTV though) with video sender to upstairs. Doubt I'll get the quality via the sender so will watch on the LCD via Freeview.
Thanks.

Through the Sky HD service, yes. Through Freeview, no.
The DTT system used by Freeview doesn't currently have enough bandwidth for HDTV.

I take that to mean the small amount of people that have an HD Ready TV & an HDTV service from Sky/Telewest etc.

Re: BBC Confirm Hi Def World Cup
£300 for the box and £10 a month added onto your bill for HD. Beginning to look too rich for my blood at the moment! Saying that I'd need to replace my telly to so looks like I'll be waiting for it to come down in price!
