Remote not working

Hi,
Our remote control is now only working intermittently, I thought it was the batteries, so I changed them. Still the same, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Either way the red light at the end of the remote lights up when I press the button.

The only thing I have changed is the position of the STB, we have replaced the TV, the STB used to sit on top of the TV, but now sits on a shelf just below the TV.

We have a Pace STB.

Any ideas, gratefully received.

Thanks

Re: Remote not working

Is the new TV either plasma or LCD? If so, it's likely that it is sending out infra-red interference and the STB is picking it up. Try rearranging the kit so the STB can't "see" the TV. You may need to use a piece of card as a shield.

If it's a LCD TV, try adjusting the backlight. This sometimes helps.

If the TV/STB directly face a wall, it's also possible that the interference is bouncing off the wall. Turning the TV and/or STB slightly may cure this.

Ahhhh its a Plasma TV, I'll try shielding the STB

If it is the TV interfering though, wouldn't it affect other systems (ie Video, DVD remote...). When I moved the STB it seems to help a little bit, but the STB is still ignoring some commands
