Question Firefox freezing while watching video

Dont know why but evertime i goto ebaumsworld.com to view the daily movie clips it just freezes the page as though its downloading the clip. it doesnt actually play the clip and i have to close down the browser, but as soon as i open a browser up again to goto google it is still frozen and wont open up the page and i am forced to reboot the pc.

Works fine otherwise, soon as i try to get a movie clip to play it locks up the browser and then i cant surf the web unless i reboot the pc.

Does anyone have any insight to this because i am new to firefox and IE java is screwed so i need to fix the firefox otherwise i will have no option but to format the system, and i dont want to do that.

Re: Firefox

If you need to fix your Java installation, go to http://java.com/en/index.jsp.

Other plugins that you may need to play movies could be Windows Media Player, Quicktime or Realplayer.

Re: Firefox

What does it say in your Event viewer... I'd imagine you have something listed in the Application logs that corresponds to when it hangs firefox.

You might want to try removing any extensions you've installed, as maybe the problem is being caused by a dodgy extension. Try removing them one-by-one until you find that the problem no longer occurs, and this should help pinpoint which one was the culprit. Other than that, i'd try uninstalling and re-installing Firefox. You'll probably need to delete your profile too, if you uninstall Firefox completely.

Re: Firefox freezing while watching video

I've changed the thread title to something a little more descriptive.
