Re: *ALL* ntl 10Mb Discussion (Part 3)
I have 10mbit 5 days and pings 10-100ms ~50 to uk constantly all the time since first day, even to first ntl server on my tracert I have like 60ms even. When I’m connecting my old broadband I have got 20-30ms constantly so this is not my pc fault. I called ntl, they can’t help me because my ping is lower than the limit – 100ms. What is happening when my download limit is over, broadband is lagging? Maybe somehow my limit is gone? What may be a reason so bad ping respond times all the time? Maybe my modem is broken? ANY ideas are welcome, I don’t want brake agreement. Please HELP.

In Leeds market, there is a permanent ntl stall.
The signs on the wall state;
10mb Broadband from ntl £37.99 per month
Download limit 75gb per month
Each of the signs, there are many, the download limit is crossed out and written in pen 'Unlimited Downloads!'

Salemen should be banned from selling internet services out in the open. They've no clue what they are selling they just take whatever seems the easiest way to make a sale for the most part.
One day you won't be able to find salesmen that are slimy lying *$£%$. Then again pigs also could levitate
The easy way to sort this or course is just to stop paying based on commission.
This isn't just an ntl problem btw, Bulldog's salesbots have no compunction about lying their rear ends off to get you to buy their product.

What you need to do then is go get a photo of it . Then post it on here and send a copy to one of the top brass at NTL .

Re: *ALL* ntl 10Mb Discussion (Part 3)
I'm in a state of shock. For weeks now I've been doing the Irsh speed test and not got higher than 2.7Mb. I've just tried it now and got 7.83Mb, on a Samsung STB, at 7.00pm on a Saturday!!! unfortunately the upload speed was 160kbps so that still sucks.
I tried it again another 8 times and for the next 5 tries I hit between 6.5Mb and 7.7Mb. However, I'm a little concerned with the 6th attempt which was 362kbps but, as the next 2 were back to around 7Mb I'm hoping it was a one off.
I'm in the Watford area so, seeing as other people are getting good speeds, maybe ntl are slowly getting things sorted out around the country bit by bit.

Wish I had.
Someone else must have seen it.
There was a moment of pleasure, having just got Febs' bill for £37.99 rather than the expected £34.99, I thought their keeping the same prices but making it unlimited.
It was nice whilst it lasted...................

Re: *ALL* ntl 10Mb Discussion (Part 3)
As an update to my earlier posts concerning erratic downloads speeds with ZoneAlarm since my stb was upgraded to 10 Mb (it was fine wihout ZoneAlarm installed), I got an ntl: 250 sacm installed today and downloads with ZoneAlarm installed are stable again. I'm guessing that there was some kind of network overhead issue using ZoneAlarm on my 10 Mbps connection to the stb which is not an issue when using a 100 Mbps connection to the sacm.

Ok, so I'm getting up to 8Mb now on occasion, 4Mb more regularly, unfortunately I'm also getting a complete loss of service for 5-10 seconds every couple of minutes. Still, I suppose sort of heading the right direction.
This is a bit off topic but, if STB users can only get up to 5Mb, why dont ntl just create a 5Mb package for people with STB's? (Ok so the obvious answer is why charge someone £30pm when you know you can get £38pm out of them)

Re: *ALL* ntl 10Mb Discussion (Part 3)
Well, my reasonable connection speeds have now disappeared and I'm worse off than before. Speed is now around 1Mb. If it's still the same in the morning then I'll be calling tech support. After that I expect I'll be talking to customer services and downgrading to 1Mb until I hear that the problems have been resolved.
Yesterday I thought there was some light at the end of the tunnel, however it turned out it was just some b*****d holding a torch

Re: *ALL* ntl 10Mb Discussion (Part 3)
to true m8 why pay 34:99 for a so called upto 10mg service with a crap 75gig cap on it when it gives sub 2mg speeds when you can get a 2mg line for 24:99 with unlimited :P still just goes to show how much of a ****ty rollout upto 10mg was or rather is someone in nthell should be accountable for the damm farce

I am having issues also, rang ntl they said if my modem is connected via USB which it is, then i would only get max 5mb bu8t if i used ethernet then i would get the full speed available. Please can anyone clarify this before i go and buy a router as i need 2 links to my modem, i use ethernet for my Xbox 360 and Usb for my pc.

USB 1.1 is max 12mbs, usb 2 is 400 odd, so you should be fine with either.
Still better going ethernet though, more stable, less hassle with drivers etc.
