i also know people who work for Usenet and their service is pretty shabby
Just to back you up here. Newshosting.com is a superb service

Re: Slow NewsServer ?

Basil,
what does that mean...... you will deff max it out ?
Are you saying I will be getting the fastest speed the server can supply me ?
Would I max it out on a 1MB or 3MB NTL connection ?

Cheers

Re: Slow NewsServer ?

Why have we drifted offtopic? I thought we were discussing NTL's News Server problems not plugging News Server Providers

Anyway, ringing the Service Status number has the message "There are no major service issues at this time" for broadband and checking the newsgroups today they seem to be back to normal, at least headers/bodies are downloading without stalling, slowdows or timeouts. How long this will last is anyone guess but the 'hiccups' seem to have passed.

Re: Slow NewsServer ?

Comments like you will defenitly max it out arent too clever their are too many factors involved which can slow it down, ntl's routing differs in different areas so some areas have problems at the moment which probably affects their newsgroup speeds.

Re: Slow NewsServer ?

Maybe it's the 10mb showoffs saturating NTL's nntp with mega download binges and causing the problems
