10mb Upgrade Killed my STB ?
At some point between Sunday night and Monday morning, something has killed (or at least wounded!) my Samsung STB.
I arrived home yesterday evening to find that I had no internet connection. I had a quick look at the STB and found that the green light (which confirms its internet connection) wasn't on. I then learned that the display on the front of the box had been acting strangely during the day, with the channel number display being corrupted, not showing the correct channel number etc.
Several reboots (including a complete power cycle) saw me being told that the software was being upgraded (I have already had the recent upgrade) and then sent me through to the engineering menu.
A few reboots later I was at least able to get the TV to work, but it has forgotten all of my favourites and settings. Broadband is still out. I have an engineer coming tomorrow but is this something others have seen ?

Re: 10mb Upgrade Killed my STB ?
Hi,
The 10Mb/s update is not a software upgrade but a config file for the modem only.
Not sure what is being updated but is not for broadband. Sounds like a DTV upgrade going pearshaped.
Sorry this is no help

a_peckover, to CableForum. TBH, it sounds like your STB has died and needs to be replaced.

No, they're stored in NVRAM. If I had to guess, I'd say it's the NVRAM that's failing as this could mean the box forgets its network settings, software version, etc.

Re: 10mb Upgrade Killed my STB ?
I only suggested that it was a software upgrade because it kept displaying the message I normally get when one is being done (the do not switch off message).
I also kept being sent to the engineering menus which I did not want to mess around with.

Engineer has been 'round today, and just swapped the STB. It had died completely overnight, but now everything is working. :-)
