Re: West Yorkshire/Bradford

My connection in BD17 area has been up and down like a whores draws for the last 2 days.

I phoned Telewest and they said theres a severe congestion problem on our server, and was mystified why their computer hadnt flagged it up. Anyway they said they would get the server upgraded asap to stop the bottlenekc and opened a ticket - although theres no sign of a ticket on the telewest site!

Then today theres 4 Telewest guys and 2 Telewest vans laying new blue and black cable in all the man holes in our street - is this a good sign of the upgrade? or just dealing with the congestion??

by the time i submit this my connection will be off again no doubt!

I think they are sorting out your connection but not upgrading it!

Lol well I think those guys were actually installing my line - I live in BD17 and I had 2 vans come and pull a very long cable down my street for me! They were complete clowns and actually I ended up installing the whole damn thing up my drive as they couldn't be bothered digging a trench! Incidentally, they didn't lock the box at the end of the road and I have tried to wedge it shut to prevent the vandals as it was just wide open but when I rang them up they said there was nothing they could do about it for a week! Notice the bits of wedged paper in it next time you pass. I have an SB5101e modem and have noticed in the Logs a number of failed software updates - maybe they've been trying to upgrade my to 10MB?

Also this modem seems to be getting very bad reports about lcoking up. I had this happen to me the other day - all the lights were on but no connection. The only cure was a power cycle - not an option when I'm away . Let me know about your situation - I've noticed slowdowns at peak hours but never get more than ~450k at the best of times.

cheers,
leapius
