Re: *ALL* ntl 10MB Discussion (Part 3)
Read my previous 3 posts on the last page. I had the same problems - ring back and say you were in the process of being upgraded by someone when you got cut off and you'd like to complete the step now.
When you call ntl you have to enter your phone number - if this does actually direct you to different call centres that could be where the problem lies. If you enter an incorrect phone number (just mash the key pad a few times) it will say - number not recognised - enter area code - try nottingham - 01159 - I did and then i finally got through to someone who could help me.

Re: *ALL* ntl 10MB Discussion (Part 3)
These contacts the Cableforum staff have at the executive level at NTL; surely they can be informed of how utterly useless their organisation is? It's not even difficult to cure, all they'd need to do is have a couple of staff who get told what's what and then have that mailed to every member of staff to make sure everyone's singing off the same hymn sheet. The way they talk about it on the phone is hardly reassuring - "I've heard…" suggests that everyone's sitting around in the canteen trying to figure out amongst themselves what's what. The four calls I've made about this so far have given me answers ranging from "It's still in trial… probably in January" to "It's going to be available in late 2006".
Unless NTL emails everyone randomly generated information for a laugh, how can they be so uninformed?

Yes but you are more informed than CS people because of the contacts the Cableforum staff have at NTL.
I'd say about 90% of NTL broadband customers don't know about the upgrade to 10Mb.
See?

Yes, I have the SB4100, speed is a bit up and down at the mo but did get a peak of about 9Mb today. When traffic calms down I'm confident of the full 10Mb

Just to add, the firmware upgrade is not something you want to do manually, ntl have the correct image and they can transplant it via the network. I believe this is what happens when they upgrade you, this process appears to be something you have to initiate by calling CS on 0800 052 2000 then option 5 and asking to be upgraded.
Once 'upgraded' reboot the modem by logging onto http://192.168.100.1 and reboot (don't reset to factory defaults). Then speedtest.....voila! with luck

Re: *ALL* ntl 10MB Discussion (Part 3)
hey guys, im at my witts end here, got upgraded to 10mb like alot of you last week, wednesday to be excact. I have a ntl120 modem which has had the firmware updated. As ive previously posted ive been onto cs about my modem reseting when i download more than 4 files at a time or exceed 40k upload. This doesnt stop and i end up having to stop doing what im doing.
Now ive phoned ntl almost everyday since the upgrade about this, they said theyve altered settings an its fixed, but it wasnt, then they tell me to turn off my modem an unplug all the leads wait 10mins then plug it in again and that this would normaly fix my problem, which surprise surprise it didnt. They refuse point blank to send out an engineer or to replace the ntl120 modem.
so could someone tell me what im suppose to do now?, im payin the highest price for a service that is not usable.
latest speed test.....
Tue, 22 Nov 2005 05:23:21 UTC
1st 512K took 4359 ms = 120277 KB/sec, approx 991 Kbps, 0.97 Mbps
2nd 512K took 8125 ms = 64528 KB/sec, approx 532 Kbps, 0.52 Mbps
3rd 512K took 2203 ms = 237988 KB/sec, approx 1961 Kbps, 1.92 Mbps
4th 512K took 1282 ms = 408961 KB/sec, approx 3272 Kbps, 3.2 Mbps
Overall Average Speed = approx 1689 Kbps, 1.65 Mbps
and it reset the modem 4 times during this.
Maybe its time to make am oppointment with a solicitor and take ntl to court. bad service, bad support but perfect billing. I AINT HAVIN IT!

Hi wasted.d
Please use the PM system to send me details of your name, address, ntl account number and a contact phone number and I will pass this problem onto our ntl escalation contacts for you.
Paul.

Thats not entirely true, my colleague was on the 3MB service in Huddersfield, he was not aware of the 10MB service, I asked him to do a speed check, and he is on the 10MB service.
This was changed on or before Monday the 14th November.
