Gone into Interactive!? Now that is odd!

Do you have the Purple or Blue EPG? Anything generating spurious IR such as plasma/LCD TV, energy saving lightbulbs, etc.? Have you checked the batteries in your remote?

It may be my wireless keyboard mouse thats causing a problem but it shouldnt be as its hidden away underneath the chair, im using the blue EPG.
I have checked and changed the batteries in the remote.
This morning when I woke up it had gone in the tv guide!.

Any chance you've got an animal (dog, cat, hamster, whatever!) that could have sat on the remote?

Re: STB changing channels on its own

Finally got it sorted. My Samsung stb kept changing channels etc since the (blue menus) upgrade. I tried taking out the remote batteries, lightbulbs etc to no avail.

Called ntl last week, they sent some signals to the box. Still same problem.

Called again last night. This morning the engineer came and replaced the stb altogether. Bit of a pain sorting all the channels again and getting broadband working, but Hey - I can change the channels myself without having a "ghost in the machine." Seems to have fixed a few other problems as well - it's much more responsive, for example.

Strongly recommend anyone with channel hopping problems to get the box replaced.

Finally, hats off to ntl for getting an engineer to me so quickly. Very, very good customer service on this occassion.

Re: STB changing channels on its own

Oh dear, the problem came back again.

I don't think I want to get the box replaced with another Samsung.

If I ask nicely do you think ntl will let me have a Pace box again?

I am really bored of this box changing channels by itself.

btw, I think I know why it does it since the upgrade. A new feature means that just pressing the arrow keys brings up the mini-guide. Normally any odd arrow keypresses would have been ignored. Now they bring up the guide. There doesn't seem to be a way to switch this new feature off.

Ideas anyone please?

Change the Batteries in your TV Remote.
For some reason my cable box develops a mind of it's own when me TV remote needs new batteries. Mini guide pops on and off channels change when they want etc...etc....
Even if I haven't used the tv remote for some time it still happens.

littld,

Do you by any chance use Digisender?

I had the same problem and found that it does not do it if I turn off the Digisender box. There was another thread where someone had this problem. I now only turn on the Digisender when I want to watch TV in bed (and put up with the annoying channel changing). I'm hoping that someone will find a cure as it is a real pain.

Wow - I do use a DigiSender. I will try what you suggest and see what happens.

The funny thing is it has only happened since the recent "blue" menu upgrade. It did not do it at all before that.

Thanks for posting the suggestion. I'll try it for a week and see how it goes.
