Re: *ALL* ntl 10MB Discussion (Part 3)

I got Through to a Scotish Guy And he give me it. Maybe they our only giveing it to a few people in Each Postcode to see how it does and if they need to fix things like speed. I think that is what it is.

I called the 150 option from my NTL phone, I asked them for the upgrade, they said ok no problem, I phoned back 3 hours later to ask them what had gone wrong? They told me that I couldn't have 10 meg yet.

PS

Do I just phone Tech support to try and cheekily get my Ambit swapped for a 250?
I upgraded to 10mb and I'm not getting the full speeds. Rang Tech support yesterday to try and get a 250 and he said, Your modem should be more than capable of handling the new speeds. As 10mb is still in its trial stages there are likely to be some issues and we will know by December if customers need new modems

Re: *ALL* ntl 10MB Discussion (Part 3)

When I phoned to check about the upgrade I was told that I would have to change from Stb(samsung 3 meg from first availability) to SACM to get the 10meg and that if I wanted it now I would be charged to have the SACM fitted.

WTF are they on about, I have been with them for 11 years and they don't give a stuff.

Re: *ALL* ntl 10MB Discussion (Part 3)

ok been reading these post for days now, so this morning phoned cs and asked if i could go on trial's. yes no problem but our computers are down ring back at 1pm and it will be done, this i did and got a different person, but same answer yes within 10sec i was upgraded from 3mb to 10mb. did a speed test getting 9mb down and 512 up, on a blue 250. if your polite to cs you got a better chance of getting upgrade, but the way some people moan on here i can see why they don't. by the way i'm in Andover Hants

Actually, I think you'll find many people have been polite and you have just been lucky to speak to a nice CS rep.

Re: *ALL* ntl 10MB Discussion (Part 3)

It does seem odd that ntl said that 3meg customers would be upgraded first (presumably as were paying more) and now here is a bunch of us sitting on 3meg samsung stb's with no upgrade in sight
Still, it is a free upgrade so we can't really complain

Yeah, they tend to be more reliable - and pretty easy to setup (use Ethernet, of course).

There's also a guide in the 'Articles' section on how to setup without the CD (don't let the setup CD anywhere near your machine!!), but seems to be unavailable at the moment.

Re: *ALL* ntl 10MB Discussion (Part 3)

So what does having the 10 meg conneciton in terms of price mean. Whats the latest. Would I have more of a cap on my connection bearing in mind I am currently paying £38 quid a month for 3meg.

You'll have 75GB a month - basically, when we're all on 10Mbps, we'll be paying for usage not speed.

I suppose those paying £24.99 might have 50GB a month and those paying £17.99 might have 25GB a month (for example - I haven't a clue what the actual figures will be).
