Re: *All* ntl 10meg Discussion (part 2)
Ok latest situation for me. Second guy was very helpful.
The billing system doesnt allow 3 changes in 1 month and he tried to force upgrade me back again, he acknowledged that the 1st guy messed up downgrading me and because I now got to wait 1 month to reupgrade I got this month half price. So now I am on 2mbit again for a month. The 1st guy must have deliberatly downgraded me.

Re: *All* ntl 10meg Discussion (part 2)
bunch of useless arses.
they wont do it because its a 'pilot scheme' i dont see why some people can get it and others can't its complete rubbish. Iam seriously thinking of cancelling and going to a competant company who know what is happening with their own services!

Nidge
If thats your ip address in the prevoius post, i would suggest hiding the last 2 octets. Not good practice to leave your IP lying around

Re: *All* ntl 10meg Discussion (part 2)
I don't know what speed testing site some of you lot are using, but if the test is using a file less than 1mb, the the results aren't going to be very accurate! Most of the sites say that the test isn't suitable for anything over an 8mb connection anyway. You are testing a 10mb connection, the best way to do it would be to find something like a 15mb file, right click, save as.. and then check the result/work out the result that way. When i test works 100mb connection, i never get accurate results unless i download a massive file.

Re: *All* ntl 10meg Discussion (part 2)
Having got the upgrade about 40 minutes ago, I have just had a call back from the CS rep I spoke to this morning. She has just spoken to her manager and has confirmed that it will not be available until December.
It would seem that it must be some sort of dream that I have it now.
On a different note, it seems that this config file may disable SNMP. That is the most likely explanation that I can find for docsdiag ( http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robin.d.h.walker/docsdiag/ ) not working.
I wonder why NTL would want to do that?

Certainly since the modems got new firmware to stop some 'naughtyness'

Worked upto the moment that the new config file applied. I was running it from cron every 15 seconds while talking to CS. It stopped in the middle of a report when the new config file applied.

That's what I thought - docsdiag hasn't worked for me in months, if not years! Could it be related to area? Dezzo, I see that you're in Glasgow, not far from me...

For anyone trying to find a big enough file on a fast enough server, try the NVidia driver download pages.

Ah the firmware updates were Ambit only so you are probably right.
