Re: *All* ntl 10meg Discussion (part 2)
On the phone to retentions right now. Apparently he can do it on one billing system, but not on the one that I am on. He has emailed a manager for a code, and is hopeful that he should be able to upgrade me in the next few minutes. Worst case is that it will be tomorrow.

Re: *All* ntl 10meg Discussion (part 2)
Well I got my cablemodem replaced today and now have the 250... rather tiny it is too when compared to my old 3com CMX.
Anyway, the CS are now refusing to upgrade me saying they can't do it on their system. I knew I shouldn't have asked to go back to 3meg until I got the new modem.
Might try again shortly using option 5.

My CMX works fine on 10mb. Well 8mb speeds at least. No reboots yet.

Thanks Dodger, was feeling a bit pee pee, but took your advice and called again, option 2 this time.
Got a nice Welsh lady, said "I had read on Cable Forum that if I asked really nice you would upgrade me from 3Mb to 10Mb".
She said, "Just a moment I will see if I can do that", a few seconds later she said "all done, reset your modem and you will be on 10Mb".
And I am.
Full 10Mb in Oldham, Yahooo!!!
Magic, thanks Dodger for giving me the push.

Just phoned this and got the usual response of sometime in December.
Asked to speak to a supervisor, he told me the same thing. Then I told him there's a website where loads of people are saying they're being upgraded. He said, "Yes, we know about that and they're being asked to call retentions at the minute". He didn't sound too happy.

I am going to mess with rwin etc. more as soon as I get time to do so, although it is already tweaked to a very high number.
the max I can get out of adslguide is 4200kbps trying different proxies. I seem to be hitting max at around 4mbit trying different sources so either my ubr is hitting a limit on downstream or my pc is configured bad to get me much more then that, or the ambit120 seems to not perform well above that (unlikely).
Bulldog what modem do you have or is it a STB?

Hmm, they put me on 10meg yesterday and the CMX reset, but just kept on resetting itself for over an hour. That's why they put me back on 3meg and sent out a new modem.
The poor old thing was probably just having a fit.

Well, he said it had been done, and I just needed to reboot. Tried that and guess what - still at 3 mbit/s!

Re: *All* ntl 10meg Discussion (part 2)
Retentions is the way to go. Got an engineer coming tomorrow to install a SACM and I should have 10MB then.
Just have to say you want to cancel everything and when they ask why say that existing customers are being upgraded and I feel it is not good enough to have some being upgraded and not others. However if they upgrade me I will stay

Re: *All* ntl 10meg Discussion (part 2)
ahh after reading more posts I see bulldog has the ambit200 and others on 100 hitting same limits as me.
Do ntl send out modems through the post or need an engineer? I think we need a 200 or higher.

I just told the truth. I had spoken to CS yesterday and promised 10 mbit/s. Told today that I could not have it. I did not like being nessed around and was thinking of taking my business elsewhere.
As I said before. If I had been given a definite No the first time, I would have been prepared to wait. However, once I had been told that I could upgrade, I was not happy for that to be contradicted. The most anoying part being that the first CS had noted my account as an enquiry - not as an upgrade request.
