Re: *All* ntl 10meg Discussion (part 2)

I have to say I have no use for 10mbit, but I have no willpower

Apart from download/upload speeds can't say I've noticed any advantages so far, browsing seems identical to 2mbit.

oh hang on <remembers apple high definition trailers>

Re: *All* ntl 10meg Discussion (part 2)

I'm not happy either, considering we as 3meg users were meant to be the first to be upgraded.

Anyway, I phoned them up and was told the service is not available, but next month I will be automatically upgraded. I explained people on the 1 anbd 2 meg tiers can upgrade onlne today and the CS guy just said 'yes'. Grrrr.

Anyway, my other ntl saga today was trying to get my 3com CMX swapped out for a new modem. This really confused them although after explaining it about 5 times I was told that every cablemodem used my ntl will be able to fully handle the 10 meg service.

10 minutes of chatting later another guy comes on the phone and says if I just want a new modem they will get one in the post as I casn connect it myself. I am then transferred to sales to organise sending out a new modem. The sales guy tells me he has no idea why I have been transferred to them as they can't do anything due to me already being a broadband customer and that I need to speak with faults... am I transferred again. The faults team now tell me that people keep getting told they can have modems sent in the post, but it can't be done and I need an installer to replace the modem and he books me a visit.

Talk about long winded, but I got there in the end... providing they turn up!

Re: *All* ntl 10meg Discussion (part 2)

Hi guys, first post here, desperate to get onto the 10meg myself. Reading about this downgrade to 2mbit then upgrade again, can I do that in one phone call or something? I can't use the web interface, I get the MAC error

Yeah, you wont really notice any difference in browsing - I mean, how many webpages are big enough to warrant a speed change in downloading them?

Re: *All* ntl 10meg Discussion (part 2)

I just got off the pgone again with CS and she still says that there is no 10meg available but only to certain customers as a trial and that 1 and 2 meg customers will not be able to get the 10meg until next year and the 3 meg customers will get it next month. I've asked why are the 1 and 2 meg customers able to get the upgrade if they upgrade over the internet and she says that it's not possible and i told her that it was possible as i have seen proof and she said well maybe they have been selected to trial the 10meg.

Well i still think thats a load of rubbish and i will just keep powering down my modem and see what happens.

I'd be lying if I said streaming 1080p high definition video wasn't impressive, I'd also be lying if I said my PC was fast enough to decode it

I'm on nights.

Went to bed at 9am. Woke up at 1pm with an incredible urge to check this thread out.

Tiermigration page gives me the "You are not worthy" line

Guess i'll go back to bedlum!

Yep.

How DARE they do that. And do you not think that CS might be getting a bit annoyed with people phoning up to complain about it?
