Yep, that's what they all said whent he cap waws introduced too... I'll believe it when I see it.

All this woulda been so much easier if they had brought the speed increases out capped and left people at 750k or below as they was unless they wanted speed over capacity.Which is basicly what NTL have done now only with alot of fuss.

So if they're doing it, what's you problem?

Like ive said before you go advertise these current packages like Bulldog are doing with their current glossy b&w advert for their nice 8mb unlimited service which played during the champions league game.NTL still sell their packages mostly door2door or via the phone which gives them more scope to keep the actual rolling tc's and capped package rules silent.Where is their nice glossy 512k unlimited advert like the ones AOL or Bulldog have.
Bulldog - they're on OFCOM detention right now aren't they? Hardly a shining example of how to be an ISP.

Maybe your right on the other issues and I agree with you I dont like monopolys on football rights. But surely NTL would just become another expense for football fans pockets by charging what they own the rights too.Youve gotta be honest its doubtfull other than live games being screened on terrestrial tv fans would have to pay towards more than one set of channels.

Ohh and I noticed you didnt make a comment on the 1st part of what I said, you may as well do the whole thing instead of just the bits that are easier to pull apart or add spin towards
Idon't think ntl are overcharging. Who else supplies BB, with all the hardware supplied and the installation done for nothing? Who else is going to be supplying 10 meg (regardless of how far from an exchange you are) for £37 a month?

Funny thing is when ever a little tiff like this starts everyone claims there are less than 1.5 km from the exchange and will therefor definitely get the 8 meg.
And that they know loads that have it and its GREAT. Well if its that great how come they have to put UPTO in there adverts and why do we have more signing up with us than we ever have. I know someone on this board that gets if he is lucky 5 meg in the day and next to nothing at night from uk online adsl. Which do i want 10 meg all the time or 10 meg in the day and nothing at night hard question not. I don't give a hoot about the cap as when 10 meg comes along 75 gig is fine for me.

Now if you want to move to a other provider that gives uncapped service, when in there aup there will be some form of cop out And trust me they will use it if they have to when they get overloaded with warez monkeys and DVD resellers then fine move. "please note i did not say anyone here was doing that"

I am happy to wait for 10meg 75 gig and will do back flips down the road when i get it.

BTW i live 2 km from the BT exchange. I have been informed that if i moved to adsl2+ i can expect to get between 9meg and 14 meg during the day depending on the state of my line.

I realise you work for ntl, and you feel it's your duty to protect them no matter what, but there's no need to reduce my argument to a childish retort. You'd think a company the size of ntl would be full of customers who are very happy with the TV service, which would even things out as to word of mouth, but from everyone i've heard from, both online, and people in my personal life, i haven't heard one person say they are happy with the service.

On the other hand, I know lots of people unhappy with the Sky service, but at the same time i know a lot of people (including myself) who can't praise them enough, it evens out. Same with BT, and most other companies.
Im happy with the service. There are moments of downtime but thats life, for me NTL are great and i've not got much bad to say about them. I think I pay a little over the odds for BroadBand but its a tight all in one package and I'll live with it... for the time being

Re: *ALL* ntl Cap Discussion (Part 3)

Thing is ofcom are hardly going to slap ntl because look who is involved it is an ex ntl exec.

Concerning public opinion of ntl, I know people who dispise the service and I know people who think its 'ok' but I dont know anyone who thinks its excellent. The opposite is said of both bt and sky, of course there are people who dont like them but there is at least people who think their service is very good, with sky I hardly know anyone who doesn't like their service the numbers are very favourable for them.

Most people tend to stay with ntl due to the cost and hassle involved in not using them, I myself have been quoted £200 of BT if I want a phoneline because it would have to go over the roof and means I dont get to pay the standard install fee, this detterant is probably too much for me and would be for most people, triple play has made ntl the isp it is today, if like america ntl only supplied broadband and tv and we all had bt phoneline's I think the story would be very different since it would be so much easier to turn to the other side. Why is ntl cap low? well they have serious peering issues, they dont respect a lot of the competition certianly all the llu providers and seem content with just having low tier customers since they just mostly web page surfer's.

Easynet made a good start in the market and the foothold is in place for sky to grasp and move forward, sky have the means for tv advertising of the service and I really hope they advertise the extra content and play down ntl and bt's capping to shame them and gain their customer's as this would kick the market up the backside.

I think ntl are a bit crazy to have both the lower 2 tiers at 10mbit it is uneeded strain on their network and will limit what they can do with the top tier since they will have more user's bursting higher.

Peer 2 Peer client. Something like Kazza, limewire etc.

Used for loads of legit activities.

As well as downloading films, music, apps, games etc. etc. which I'm sure no-one who has been capped has ever considered

I thought that sort of thing was illegal, not legit. If it is legit I will try one of them.

p2p programs are legit.
what you decide to download by means of p2p software, is your decision.

Is there some legit stuff to download then? Oh I suppose some apps may be share or freeware. Cant' see how that would make Ntl cap you though as surely they are only small files?
