Doing The Maths

I subscribe to Base Pack & Talk Unlimited 24 for a yearly cost of £432.00

If I change to Freetalk and Freeview my first years cost would be around £150
by purchasing the equipment and the around £80 for the following years.

I would loose the following, but save £280+ in the first year and £350 onwards.

Sky One
SkyMix
Uk BrightIdeas
British Eurosport
At The Races
Bloomberg
Free servicing after one year

As sport is of no interest and Sky 3 is coming to Freeview and the telephone would a second line the choice seem obvious.

Re: Doing The Maths

I missed
Living TV
Boomerang
Cartoon Network
VH1
plus shopping

It seems a lot more to pay for very little extra real content.

Re: Doing The Maths

You could get get sky+ and Freetalk for £447.50 for a year.

That is £15.50 more than ntl base and 24 unlimited phone cost.

Plus I get movies, an estate of sheds and pvr.

I assume that having Broadband is a requirement that you have taken into account for Freetalk.

It is also worth pointing out that you will not get emergency 999 calls on Freetalk.

Which BB package are you on with Ntl? If you already have a BT line it may be cheaper for you to look at someone like plusnet as they are doing 2Mbit for £14.99

Just worth a mention.

P.s. if you already have a BT line then www.1899.com is also worth a look.

Looks like your with the wrong company then

Ntl = £37.99/3Mbit = 12.66 per Mbit
Plusnet = £14.99/2Mbit = 7.49 per Mbit
Bulldog* = £29.50/8Mbit = 3.68 per Mbit

*Bulldog includes your phone line

They have their issues just like every other ISP. They were used to give an idea of "bang for buck" with alternative suppliers.

Re: Doing The Maths

The one thing I can think of that is wrong with these new very fast ISDN ISP's is that there are still a lot of areas covered by BTs network that can not cope with speeds faster than 1meg?
This may be the case why they are cheap!
But if you are in one of those areas all I can say is you lucky sod...LOL

In some BT areas you are still lucky if you can get 512k!
