Weird proxy issue?

Yesterday one of my own sites came up with this....

http://www.uoforums.com/uof.PNG

Now, I don't even host with this...streamline.net, so I have no idea who they are

When I put in a manual proxy in IE's proxy settings, it went away and the site loaded AOK

Today, I removed it and everything SEEMED to be ok, but i'm getting it again on some sites I visit

Re: Weird proxy issue?

OT but what have you done with the fonts to make them more appealing? Mine look awwwful.

Your site works on my proxy, one of the Nottm ones, BTW. TBH, if you're that bothered try contacting ntl, it is after all your site and it's worth trying.

God i'm such an idiot, heh sorry Chris, I forgot about the proxy forum

My fonts? Hrm, are you running Windows XP? it comes with font smoothing.
Gotta turn it on in the display properties area.

Re: Weird proxy issue?

Best and only way I know, is to use a proxy

Do you use internet explorer? if so, go into Tools, Internet Options
Goto the Connections tab, then click "Lan Settings"
Tick the "Proxy server box"
In the address, put - bagu-cache-1.server.ntli.net
Port - 8080

Ok it then try

That's the proxy i'm using right now, seems to work ok
There's a whole list of ones you can use here - http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robin.d...cache.html#ntl

IIRC for Firefox, there's actually an extension that lets you change your proxy from a toolbar - Switch Proxy Tool. I _think_ you can change proxy on the fly with it.

Re: Weird proxy issue?

I read... I think on the ntlhell forums.. that there is/was a DNS issue in certain areas causing the wrong pages to come up on the default proxies.

Re: Weird proxy issue?

what ever it is it sure is annoying. I have to keep changing my proxy settings because otherwise it interferes with my VPN connection for work.
