Can you help me decide - Which ADSL?

I've had a look and the following services are apparently available in my area. Now looking at the figures, Tiscali looks the best/cheapest but I've heard some bad stuff about them. The modem/router with the BT/Yahoo package is quite tempting too as there'll be 2 PCs needing connection, although I doubt it's wireless . Can anyone help me decide?

Wanadoo
£22.99 per month for 2Mb (40x speed) broadband
- 6GB monthly usage allowance (heavy user)
£27.99 per month for 2Mb (40x speed) broadband
- 30GB monthly usage allowance (power user)
Free connection for on-line orders - save £30
Free modem for on-line orders - save £50
Free wireless home network & phone package for 6 months (4 quid/month after!)
- Connect several computers to the Internet wire-free
- Includes Livebox wireless equipment - save £80

Tiscali
£17.99 per month for 2Mb (40x speed) broadband
+ phone bundle including free weekend calls
30GB monthly usage allowance (power user)
Free connection for on-line orders - save £50
Free modem for on-line orders - save £50

Virgin.net
£24.99 per month for 2Mb (40x speed) broadband
- 20GB monthly usage allowance (heavy user)
No 12 month contract
- New to broadband? Try it without making a long-term commitment
- Switch between price plans free of charge
Free connection for on-line orders
Free modem for on-line orders

Onetel
£19.99 per month for 2Mb (40x speed) broadband
+ Free weekend calls to UK numbers starting 01 and 02
2GB monthly usage allowance (regular user)
Free connection - save £50
Free modem - save £40

BT Yahoo
£27.99 per month for 2Mb (40x speed) broadband
- Cashback offer for first 3 months (usually £29.99 per month)
- 30GB monthly usage allowance included (power user)
NB Also appears to be a 15GB package with same benefits for £24.99 (£26.99 )
Free connection
Free modem/router for on-line orders - save £25

Before you decide, go to www.adslguide.org.uk

Every ADSL ISP is there, with customer comments, good and bad, regarding their experiences, don't dive in and sign up with anybody, untill you've read the very comprehensive postings there.
Good luck.

Re: Can you help me decide - Which ADSL?

Does anyone have any experience of Plus.net? I'm moving soon and it seems like a good opportunity to dump NTL - although I'm happy with the internet service on the whole, there's a good chance we won't be moving to a cabled area anyway - so I am thinking of contingency plans and Plus.net came up in a conversation today - they seem pretty good value, but I keep seeing things about cancellation charges all over the place, but no info that I can easily find on their website.

Anywaone use them? I'm looking at their Premier Package becuase there's no limits (that I can see), the contention is low and they include full-on webhosting in the price. Any thoughts?

- 20GB is hardly heavy user...
- Virgin.net reserve the right to charge a £50 cancellation fee (ie if you want to leave within the first 12 months)
- the free modem is a pooey speedtouch usb job
- tech support is a premium rate number...

Re: Can you help me decide - Which ADSL?

People think PlusNet is bad but in the 2 years I have used them, nearly 3 I have never had a problem, been very useful and UK based. Great package and are very informative when services go down they inform you via email if you subscribe to that.

I say PlusNet all the way.
