Question about car CD players and MP3s
Hello,
If you have a CD with mutiple folders and tracks will a car MP3 CD player be able to read all the folders?
Or do all the MP3's need to be in the root of the CD?
If the answer is the first option, does the CD player display the folder names / tracks etc?
Cheers
Lee

Re: Question about car CD players and MP3s
I believe most car CD players won't play CDs in Data format... I know mine doesn't.

Re: Question about car CD players and MP3s
A little google has discovered a couple of players that state they can support data cds and 8 directory levels.
Also say that ID3 tags are supported, so presumably titles and artist would be displayed properly.
Not sure if this applies to your player though.... what model do you have?

Re: Question about car CD players and MP3s
My missus has a goodmans cd/mp3 player, which I fitted in her car. That can indeed read 8 directory levels.

Mine also reads directories, along with the ID3 tags

Re: Question about car CD players and MP3s
Chris W: Not got one yet! Just doing some research before I buy one!
So 8 directory levels - cool
Think I would only burn them to two levels - i.e.
\\Artist\Album Name\track1.mp3
So - does the folder name get displayed on the CD player display - I would assume it would otherwise you have no idea what you are selecting!
Cheers,
Lee

Well ours flashes up the folder name then the track.... IE
Queen.....Radio Ga Ga.mp3
But I wouldn't think they all do it the same way. Maybe you can pop into Halfords or something and have a fiddle with some units there. Ours have a load set up on a wall thing.

Re: Question about car CD players and MP3s
bought one myself last year, a pioneer jobbie... is quite cool too
displays folder names up to 6 levels and ID3 tags
if i'm burning an mp3 disk, i tend to use a few diffrent genre's, ie, have a folder for dancy stuff, another for rock, one for chill out tracks etc

Re: Question about car CD players and MP3s
My Tevion player from Aldi does read through the root folder and subfolders as long as the music to play is MP3 or wav, but reads the tags only on MP3.
