Can't get to cableforum.co.uk
That's right, I can't see this forum unless I put a proxy server into my internet settings. As far as I know all other websites that I regularly visit are fine, but not here, anyone know what's going on or how I can solve this problem? I used to be able to conect without problem.
Cheers
Craig

It is a 'feature' of the NTL network, that, personally, I think has improved a lot - I default to the Nottingham proxies, which I find to be very reliable.
However, there still appears to be some parts of the country where people aren't so lucky.
In your case, It could be a transient local problem that will be fixed soon & you can go back to 'normal'

Thanks for the replies, I'm in Glasgow too, so this may be something that is sorted in time then?

Re: Can't get to cableforum.co.uk
what proxy do you specify for glasgow, I had a look at the server list but I cant see which one to use.
Is it just any proxy you can use or should it be a specific one?

Re: Can't get to cableforum.co.uk
Any one will do... there's no real rule, although theoretically the closest geographically will give better performance, but we're talking such relatively small distances between the various NTL proxies that you wouldn't notice any real difference.

Any NTL one should work, but you'll probably have to hunt around them for one that works satisfactorily on most sites you visit.
Some are awful

The only seafood I like is cod. I'd've though octopi best for browsing mind, since they have nice big nerve fibres.

Cable Forum no show
Since the news of the 10Mb upgrades I've been trying to access Cable Forum from my home PC through ntlworld.
Nothing - except a small note that says This document contains no data.
That's been it for a few days now, until today when I tried to access Cable Forum from the office... and bingo! Here it is.
So, is there any kind of block (my suspicious mind) or is it a weird Firfox cache that even clearing the cache and forcing a new page doesn't clear?
Any ideas?
Ken

Re: Cable Forum no show
Sounds like a Proxy Server issue ... more specifically the default proxy servers you are assigned at home.
Visit the articles section and pick a different proxy, the Hersham or Cardiff ones seem to work the best, and manually add a proxy to your home configuration in Firefox.
That should do it.

Re: Cable Forum no show
Could just be a proxy problem. That error basically means it couldn't access the site when you asked it to load the forum. Next time it happens try chaning your proxy to see if it helps.
