Re: High Def - Telewest
When some of the channels they broadcast start delivering content in HD, I imagine. The BBC is doing HD trials at the moment, but don't expect anything for some years yet. Unlike in the US, the T industry here declined the option of adoptiong HD at the same time as digital, saying it would cost too much and cause too much upheaval.
Your lovely new TV set will only reach its full potential if you buy one of the next generation DVD players, when they come out, and a fistful of HD-DVDs to play on it.
Personally I wouldn't have bothered buying a HD telly at all ...

Re: High Def - Telewest
im really impressed with it, it doesnt look so good displaying some channels on telewest, but i blame telewest not the panasonic, i put on the incredibles and the picture is amazing, and thats just standard dvd. At first there was a loud buzzing and i was concerned as it was putting me off the film, i since have changed the wiring at the back and you shouldnt have the power lead and scart leads touching, it causes interference and creates a buzzing noise.
Have u had a panasonic before?

Re: High Def - Telewest
Nope - never even had a plasma before but i want to get one and like you, want one that is HD compatable. The best bet at the moment appears to be the Panasonic so i figure thats the one to go for.

Re: High Def - Telewest
yeah its nice, the pedestal stand is nice too, very well built and for a plasma the sound is amazing.
The reason why i asked about if you have had a panasonic before is because you could adjust the zoom size before, you cant now, you have 4 preset zooms. only problem really.

Re: High Def - Telewest
Not really an issue for me i would say. I was probably going to go for the wall mount version.
Care if i ask how much it was? (If you found a good deal)

Re: High Def - Telewest
well in the end i just purchased it from john lewis, the 5 year warranty sold me, 2500. I could have got it cheaper but decided that the 5 year warranty is worth it

Sky plans to launch HDTV some time in 2006:

Somehow, I doubt Telewest will be ahead of them. Then again, they probably won't be far behind either.
