New House

I have just moved house and when i got NTL installed the guy said my box outside was nackerd and he would have to hook my broadband and phone on to the house nextdoor to me to me it work. I was also told that in the same week they would come and fix my box outside and move the cables to my own box, this has still not been carried out and i was wondering is it anything to worry about and should i give them a call?

Re: New House

It's not something that should be allowed to continue.

For a start to receive your supply via next door requires an easement (legal right) for that service to be carried over their property. If your neighbours realise what has happened they would be well within their rights to demand the cables be immediately removed.

There is alsow the question as to whether by sharing the cable, that is not intended to carry to properties worht of signals, both of you might be getting a degraded service (the techs will knwo better than I if that is likely).

The simple answer is yes, you should pester ntl to sort the installation out properly.

Re: New House

Spoke to CS and they said, we will send someone out on Tuesday to take a look at the problem. I am hoping she has not just sent someone to come and look at my cable modem inside as I did say what the problem was.

Re: New House

Yeah he came and said he could not do anything and would book the right people to come and sort it, which can take up to a week.

Re: New House

Sounds like the drop cable is damaged the tech who installed the service should of rang the office .He should of got you a date for a repull .We often if possible will use another feed if possible to keep you connected while you wait for a repull but we will always ask permission
