WoW porting?
anyone heard anything about World of Warcraft possibly porting to the Xbox 360 or the PS3? just thinkin that'd be a cool idea, like FFXI, it was already ported to the PS2 and it will port to the 360 at launch, and i was just thinking it'd be a perfect idea for WoW to port to the 360 and the PS3, so any ideas? i'd post it on the forum of the site, but i can't because i don't have an account from the game

Re: WoW porting?
I think they tried porting starcraft across to a console years ago, don't think it was very successful - and now they're making a FPS based around Starcraft for modern consoles, but I wouldn't ever expect to see WoW on a console, either, I'm afraid. Buy it for the PC, it's more than worth it

Re: WoW porting?
Well, you kinda need a keyboard to play wow, think how many buttons you have to press! If you had some kind of keyboard extension put to the console to combat this, then you might as well have a PC
Plus how would you tell everyone how much of a n00b they are without a keyboard

Re: WoW porting?
i knew it wasn't going to happen, but it didn't hurt to hope, eh? on the flip-side about the keyboard, odds are, microsoft will probably make a keyboard to fit into the xbox 360, think about it, it's basically a computer, it's made by microsoft, i'm honestly surprised they didn't come out with a keyboard for the xbox like ps2 did, i'm pretty sure they will come out with a keyboard for both the 360 and ps3 eventually, dontcha think?

Re: WoW porting?
WoW = fab but really does need a keyboard.
Perhaps when one is available Blizzard will consider the port if the money is there for it.
FFXI was banal I thought btw Probably had to port to try and fill the servers

Re: WoW porting?
WoW is great, excellent game. Subs are actually worth when you consider the scale and replay benfits of the game. Also social elements and playing in teams are nice

Re: WoW porting?
I had WoW but have now cancelled my online account through lack of use. As for Xbox Keyboard support look here :- http://xbox.gamespy.com/articles/565/565000p1.html
And if you're a Phantasy Star Online gamer here:- http://www.gameseek.co.uk/productdet...w3xmkwb843s87/
I personally think there will be combined PC/Xbox games around once the Xbox360 is released and full supported by the industry.
Surely the specs of the 'dedicated' games console that is Xbox360 is surely tempting PC gamers to give it a thought ? From what I've read in the Xbox forums this seems to be the case.

Re: WoW porting?
Hehe sadly not in my case, looking at the console while the graphics system in it is nice the CPU is poor and the system I have at the moment with perhaps a graphics card upgrade would laugh at the Xbox 360, and has laughed at the Xbox for some time
PC remains my system of choice for now, especially with the relatively poor quality of most of the console -> PC ports, shows the presently huge gulf between the two performance wise, and this gulf will be equally wide again not long after the next generation of consoles... they are, after all, using PC graphics hardware, less RAM and relatively weak CPUs.

Re: WoW porting?
personally, if the specs live up to what the 360 says it'll launch at, let's just say my computer might as well go ahead and reserve it's own, personal, dusty corner of the house, because it will totally kick my computer's butt, heh, funny isn't it? i'm personally too lazy to buy a graphics card (which is also compounded with the fact that i have an amish mother who doesn't believe in technology (not literally)), and when you think about it, the 360's relative similarities to a computer and it's power, you think that a game could be made pretty much exactly the same and be put into the pc or 360, but that most likely won't happen for obvious marketing reasons and perhaps certain technical aspects of it too
and while on the subject of it all, i looked it up and it said the price would be in the neighborhood of $300, yall believe that or think it'll be nearer to $400 or $500?

Re: WoW porting?
Just reading the latest Official Xbox Mag and an article on MMORPG's for the XBOX360 they say this:-
Quote "and from the whispers we've heard, don't rule out World Of Warcraft embracing the new console either!" End Quote.
I personally believe this IS gonna happen - eventually.

Re: WoW porting?
A new four part article on RPG gaming for All formats has started on IGN, firstly looking at the Xbox and the future of Xbox 360 MMORPGS. Its a very interesting article to read, have a look here:-
http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/633/633497p1.html
Seems a strong possibilty that Microsoft have the cheque book out for WoW.
