Msblast.exe
Formated and reimaged a pc last week to windows 2000 and it kept switching off every now and again. This was striaght after the image. Updated the Mcafee dat files to find it was the msblast virus.
Tonight I have formated and reimaged another computer with windows xp pro. Now after the last experence I checked the image straight away before installing anything to find it had the msblast virus again!!!
This I find unreal, Lesson learned. Unplug lan cable when reimaged until you have your firewall and antivirus software upto date
Damn this blaster is one fast fecker

Well Had to reimage my machine again today as the harddrive went. I suppose that was what caused me to reimage the first time but yet again the msblast virus was on their first thing. Now as I have windows 2000 and xp its nothing to do with the image so I'm thinking now perhaps NTL's network is not as clean as it should be ?

Ps anyone that has reimaged since this virus has been out perhaps should run a check. I'd be interested to see the results
Ps if you dont have antivirus software use this free one

All that doe's is tell you to install a firewall. Well after whats happened before thats the first thing I done. I switched on the XP one straight after install and then installed Zonealarm Pro 4!
Then installed Mcafee which found Msblaster ARGGGGHHH

Best way to do it is to keep Zone Alarm or something on CD. Then install it before you connect to the net

Yep but were talking about minutes here after the install before firewall being switched on which make me think the NTL network team should check their network out and fast. After all three times !

No - There's a critical update if you run Windows update.. I've just installed it, and it hasnt come in the Automatic windows update I did on Monday.

Well I think their network team should check out their servers, If it wasn't for the speed I'd say it was nothing to do with NTL but christ like I said were talking about minutes here.
PS I work in IT and build my own computers too
