Cant set up forum
I cant get this forum to install
<Link removed>
Maybe i am doing something wrong in the 'Database Server Hostname / DSN' area?
Linking to the install file is not a great idea - post images - and remember to remove the install.php when you have done (Paul).

Installing PHPBB this way requires you to have the details of the database (name, user and password). Depending on your hosting localhost might work otherwise you'll normally give your domain name I.e. www.damienoneill.com

Re: Cant set up forum
Not to sure here, but you putting that up could leave you wide open to a hack.

Indeed. Link removed.
FYI: You would always use "localhost" unless the database is on a different server (not common).

Re: Cant set up forum
shouldn't a forum installation be in /public_html or similar ???
- does your host already have a script for installing it??

Re: Cant set up forum
What database type is it ?
(I assume you have set the database up first, on the same server ....)

you may need to look for a revised url, not the index - e.g. http:/yourdomain/forum
look at your space with an ftp client - FireFtp works again, for me

You need to give the user you set up the following access to the DB:
select, insert, update, delete
