Remote Control Not Working - any ideas???
The remote control on my CFT 2100 has now stopped working!! Tried new batteries but still no joy. Neither the stb nor the remote has been damaged, dropped, etc, since it last worked. Any ideas anyone???

Calm down dear, it's only a remote control!
Ring CS & get them to order a new one.

Done that, should be here next week. Not normally a problem, just that I am off work recovering from an operation and bending down to change channels is the last thing I feel like doing!! Why do these things always happen at the wrong time??
Also not convinced it is the remote. I also have a spare Jerrold remote which I have tried with new batteries and doesn't work either.

Re: Remote Control Not Working - any ideas???
Didn't want to start a new thread as we already had one running so apologies for encroaching on this one.....
Last week my favourites all changed back to the default channel order and since then the back button on my remote has stopped working, is this likely to be an issue with the box or should I ask CS for a new remote?

Re: Remote Control Not Working - any ideas???
We had a problem with our remote the red light that comes on when you press a button was onone morning and wouldn't go out, we removed the batterys then put them back in pressed, a button and the red light came on and stayed on.
called CS they sent a replacement, a letter with it said return the faulty remote, and if no fault was found, or wear and tear, dead batteries or remote was not returned they would charge £15 quid.
So my dad decided not to bother as he thought that would charge him regardless.

I had exactly the same thing a few years back, I thought it was a bit of a cheek to be honest. Why the hell would I be asking for a new remote unless the old one was knackered?
Takes the p**s if you ask me

Re: Remote Control Not Working - any ideas???
Hmm... we received a replacement remote from NTL because ours was knackered, we'd had it for many years and the back was held on with tape and it had teeth marks in from the kids and the clearly obvious fact we dont feed them enough (or at least so it seems... the lack of content in the fridge would prove otherwise).
The woman was very helpful, marked it down as a damaged remote and got us a new one sent out. No request for the original to be sent back or anything... it should be in a museum somewhere that thing, it's probably the longest lasting thing in the hands of the kids :P

I had exactly the same problem and sent the old one back in the post with the red light constantly on - I was worried that the batteries would be dead by the time they received it and I would get charged, but I did not.

Re: Remote Control Not Working - any ideas???
Well, the replacement remote arrived today (very prompt service from NTL ) but, just as I suspected, it still doesn't work
Just occured to me, the day that the remote stopped working was the same day that I was due to upgrade from anologue to digital. I had to cancel the appointment due to the fact that I had to go into hospital for an op at short notice. I am still receiving all of my channels as before, but would this have 'locked' the remote if they had started the 'ball rolling'?? What do you think???
