Re: Building my own PC

Hmmmmm............my mobo fan has suddenly become a bit louder (for the last couple of hours or so) ....wonder if it's thinking of giving up the ghost? How easy are these things to replace?

Re: Building my own PC

Gonna do a transfer to a new tower/case next week, my 1st attempt at getting my hands inside my PC, but i was a dab hand at panel jockeying when i had my TV shop, so i can't see it being much harder, or am i missing something?

Re: Building my own PC

I don't know that much about computer's, but would this seem like good value ?

If so I might try it

If that has been posted before, apologies in advance

Re: Building my own PC

You want a kit? whats your max spend? onboard graphics is a no no if you want to play games but if you just want to build an office pc then you will be fine,or you could add a better gfx and more memory,it all depends what you need the machine to do,I would always spend top end of your budget as this ensures you get the best you can

this is one from over clockers no case or graphics

AMD Athlon "Mobile" XP2500-M Barton 266FSB (Socket A) CPU - OEM (CP-076-AM) (very overclockable)
Akasa AK-827 Ultra Quiet Copper Base CPU Cooler (Socket A) (HS-013-AK)
Abit NF7-S v2.0 nForce2 (Socket A) Motherboard (MB-028-AB)
Corsair 512MB DDR Value Select PC3200 CAS2.5 Kit (2x256MB) (MY-043-CS)
£138.94 £138.94
Subtotal £138.94
VAT £24.32
Total £163.26

Very easy, but you might have to remove the motherboard to get the clips out from behind, I'd recommend replacing it with a passive Zalman heatsink (if your video card doesn't obscure it that is)

Re: Building my own PC

Rammy, any chance you can run through the spec of your new machine and how much it cost in total? This thread's become so long, I've forgotten on which page it's all detailed. Cheers.
