Re: Windows XP reboots when shutting down

Does it actually shut down totally or is it just on standby?

Re: Windows XP reboots when shutting down

How long does it take? are there any wake up options set in bios? might be worth checking and turn all off and see,When a pc shuts down its not usually actually off theres still power to the board etc,if its not a wake up call, then well check that first

Another thing it could be is a faulty case switch maybe how confident with messing in case are you?

Looked in the BIOS, everything regarding wake up has already been disabled, came out of CMOS without changing anything, and it appeared the machines is cured !! Don't understand it.

Re: Windows XP reboots when shutting down

Bit late, I know, but I am putting this in case anyone else has trouble with XP rebooting upon shutdown. Microsoft have published an article on it that may be handy.

http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;308029.

If that doesn't work, go to http://support.microsoft.com and enter 30829 in the search box.

Re: Windows XP reboots when shutting down

It may be blue screening on shutdown and restarting. Try disabling reboot in System Properties.
