Please help me spec a new system
My budget is £500.
I need:
CPU
Mobo
Ram
Graphics
Here are the stipulations.
AMD 64 Socket 939
1Gb 3200 DDR (2x512) min.
PCI-Express
Radeon X800
Can it be done?
Ideally I would like to buy from Microdirect as they are near my house and can collect in person.
Thanks for your help in advance.

Re: Please help me spec a new system
Cheers, think I would go for the slightly better foxcon board though.
Does it matter that there is no multiplier option in bios?
Do you think it will/could be added by a bios upgrade.

Re: Please help me spec a new system
yeah theres plenty of other boards. That quote was under budget so have a look at the site and see what you can get to make it up<make it up with an MSI or an ASUS
The mobo has to have a multiplier,It will be locked unless you buy an FX chip,

Re: Please help me spec a new system
According to multiple reviews, there is no option to alter the multiplier.
It must just detect the multiplier on each chip.

Re: Please help me spec a new system
Thats right i said its locked,on some boards however you can lower the multiplier
Why you ask ?
A good way to to gain performance is to actually lower the multiplier ,which in turn lowers cpu bus speed, then either using high speed rated ram or lowering latency of ram in bios and uping the ram voltage 1 click, you can normally raise the fsb resulting in ,1,regaining cpu fsb to normal(no stress to cpu) 2,gain bandwidth caused by higher ram speed and greater fsb

Re: Please help me spec a new system
Yes but with this mobo you can not lower or raise the multiplier.
There is no multiplier option in the bios.

Re: Please help me spec a new system
www.meshcomputers.com I have one on order from them thanks to Zinglebarb and I am still awaiting my confirmation letter, however mine cost me 553quid, if you didnt spec on the cdrw drive floppydrive and lost say down to a 9800 visual card you would have a new pc on its way with the Asus Pci-E mobo.
I am sure Zinglebarb can explain it better if I cannot I have tons of filing to do from this laptop to my new pc once its here.

Re: Please help me spec a new system
No manual, just read a few reviews.
Thanks very much for your spec out, that looks perfect.

Re: Please help me spec a new system
You've added DDR2 ram there, there are no amd ddr2 boards - that ram will NOT work with that board. Just get dual kit of pc3200, there is no need to go higher unless you want to overclock.
