Rammy, there's no point in overclocking your system, it's powerful enough to show no frame drops any way

I know, I'm happy with it--just wanted to squeeze a 6K+ score from it
I could probably do a little better than that one if I was to tweak the nvidia driver settings further.

Some people are never satisfied until they break their systems

Nah, I've throttled it back to no o/c and 'quality' rather than 'performance' settings

Re: Building my own PC
I was comparing my 3dmark05 on futuremark, against someone thats got a 10000+ score.... basically exactly same kit, apart from an FX-55, and he overclocked his gpu....
Im contemplating the overclock.... just to see what i get

overclocked to the point of near death and settings dropped like yours 3800 with asus x800 xt pe kingston hyper x ram (had to lower latency and up voltage on this)
This ones default settings with overdrive activated big drop
your machine is quicker than mine at stock settings and im sure it will be quicker than mine overclocked,Im waiting for gigabyte to release a dual core 6800 ultra then its christmas for dual core

Re: Building my own PC
Hmm, the new Gigabyte 3D1 kit (which has a SLI motherboard, and the Gigabyte 6600GT dual GPU card) gets a score of 6000 in 3DMark05, and it's cheaper to buy than what Rammy got. I may just go for the kit later on this year

So you are saying that I got a slightly higher score than a SLi?

Re: Building my own PC
There will be a 3d1 set up with dual ultra core me hopes, the 3d1 only has 128 meg ram per core admitted its clocked quite high but its not enough, imo if that set up has a bottle neck it will be ram

Re: Building my own PC
I just had a quick browse on the futuremark forums and my score is not too shabby at all for a single GPU 6800ultra (especially since i haven't gone overboard in o/c'ing it either)
Biftas is incredible, and KP's is just obscene

Re: Building my own PC
Ive just ran 3dmark05 on my old PC (after a fresh format and driver installation etc.)
Its a
P4 3.2
2Gb DDR PC3200
Geforce 5900 Ultra 256Mb DDR
Audigy 2 ZS
It gets a score of 1240
I would of thought it would of been higher than that.... so thats some upgrade just completed......

You clocked yours. This was the driver settings set to quality and set to default clocks. And it's not a complete SLI system like KP's, it uses SLI to use both GPUs on the card (the 2 GPUs are on the SAME card).
Still, including an AMD 64 3500+ Venice CPU it's going to cost £535

Re: Building my own PC
I am an ati fanboy but I will mostly likely buy nvidia next, all depends on if ati get it together and create there version of sli,But ive read somewhere you can (if a board ever exists) use quite a few more than 2 cards

It certainly is good value,a friend of mine bought it and put a 3200 in it,after a few teething troubles its now rock solid and it flies seeing as the mobo with gfx and chip would have cost less than my 3800 when i bought it

Re: Building my own PC
I found this for sale on e-bay. Not bad at all! If it had been up sooner I might have gone for it
edit--hell Kp, you should have gone for it and just plugged another 6800 ultra into it
