Mozilla Thunderbird / Firefox

I had to reinstall a whole load of stuff onto a new hard drive and now I find that if someone emails me a URL, I can't go to the site by clicking on it. The cursor changes as it hovers over the hyperlink, but double-clicking on the link achieves nothing and I have to Copy Link Location, open Firefox and paste into the URL field at the top.

Any ideas what is going wrong?

TIA

Alan

Re: Mozilla Thunderbird / Firefox

Goto Windows Explorer, then on the tools menu select Folder Options. On the window that opens select the File Types tab and look for URL. Select it and Click the Advanced button near the botto of the window.

A new window will open - make sure "open" is selected and click edit..

Under "application used to perform action" make sure the following is there...

rundll32.exe shdocvw.dll,OpenURL %l

Then check that DDE is checked and Application shows "shdocvw" and Topic: is showing "system".

Then OK your way back out to save the settings and try again.

EDIT: You may want to try this tool first though to see if it does all this for you automatically...

Re: Mozilla Thunderbird / Firefox

Thanks gents
Running XP home, and when I looked at the settings, they were exactly as you describe, I wasn't brave enough to run the tool, will try that later...

It worked. The tool did the trick.
Many thanks
