550 Quid for a new gaming pc
Hiya all, well I have in my hand 550notes, thats 550pounds for my new gaming system, I do not wish to build my own rather buy one, I have speakers, keyboard, mouse and a nice CRT monitor. So it is just a base unit.
I will be using this for gaming on Halo and Flight Simulator 2004, now design of the tower aint important as I hate ones which scratch easy and are cheaply made.
I have checked out some from
www.overclockers.co.uk
www.evesham.com
http://www.bolton-computers.co.uk
Which are nice, any main ideas pointers, my girlfriend prefers Dell, but I find there Desktops are rather pricey I mean they want 23quid for the floppy drive to be added . Although I have to admit I like there setup.
Anyway any ideas would be nice as I will be buying first thing Monday morning really as cash is in my hand NOW.

Re: 550 Quid for a new gaming pc
I currently do not have a system I am using my girlfriends laptop right now which is non upgradable.
My last system totally broke down on me and was disposed off and with me moving house I have had a period without my system.

Re: 550 Quid for a new gaming pc
Sweet would love it with the 1gb ram and the 6800LE, but that shoves me to 691quid..
Surely the 6600gt is enough or even the X700 Pro. Few of my mates using the X700Pro Ati card and think its kewl enough.

Re: 550 Quid for a new gaming pc
Have it with 512mb of ram, would prefer 1gb but costs previal.
Also with the X700 Pro visual card... the most powerful I had in my last system was the 9200Se... this should blow me away lmao.
Thanks for the advice towards Mesh Computers, few things have you personally owned one of there systems and what is the quality of there towers and overall systems. And does this one come with Xp Home included/installed?

I have 2 MESH systems and have been happy with the build quality. MESH fall down on customer service big time though. They will try to deliver to the wrong address, not deliver on the correct day, tech support will mess you about........etc etc.......
On the other hand, the machines are good and the pricing is very competitive

Re: 550 Quid for a new gaming pc
Hmmm well glad I aint at my previous address, and there is a way and a road with the same name, and to make it worse one is next to the other.
As for there tech support why pay 80p per minute when I have you boffins here .
Looks like I may be able to beg and plead to 650 and get it with 1gb of ram. I bet the 512ram will be noticeable in larger levels.
Cannot wait to get it ordered and delivered I hope they don't take weeks to sort it out

£550 ain't gonna get you very far for a decent gaming rig.
Try and get 1GB of RAM and a 6600 or X700 if you can.

Re: 550 Quid for a new gaming pc
aint it true thought that if i bought it with 512 of ram, i would have to buy 2gb and not just 1.5gb as the sticks would be different makers??
I am thinking of buying it with the x700 pro a athlon 64 3000 processor, and 512mb of Ram, as this would bring it to my budget set it all up and then once I am paid again getting a good deal on about 2gb of Ram for it.
Other then that I am off to bed, I am knackered.
Thanks all I enjoy the advice lovely to have views and thoughts to think on
