I bet it is a new revision, because the connector to the motherboard has a "slider" to slide an extra 4-pin connector so it will plug into most server boards.

A 6 pin for PCI-E
The Gefocre 6800 Ultrat PCI-E 256Mb have 4 pins..... my current Geforce FX5900 Ultra AGP has a 4pin...... you sure the 6pin is to provide power to a GFX card???? (im just trying to picture in my head) Didnt the old AT boards have 2 x 6 pin plugs???

Re: Building my own PC
Another question............
I am going to connect to the internet via a wireless router. Will there be any difference in my data transfer speed between the PC and router using the mobo's inbuilt LAN versus the mobo's inbuilt wifi connection (IEEE 802.11g 54Mbts/sec)

Well the LAN i think is 1Gb connection, (will depend on if you have a 1gb port router, probably not - probably only 100mb) so your Lan connection will be 100Mb connection, but your wireless connection is only 54Mb so half the time, but your NTL connection is maximum 3mb, so even if you were pulling all of the NTL line, you wouldnt get anywhere near either. The other thing to bear in mind is how far away your wireless router goes (signal weakens with distance) and will cause a slow down of speed. Caspar's entire network is wireless i believe, and he has no issues at all, my PC is the only one connected to my router by cable, the rest of my systems (xbox, PS2, 2 x laptops, iPaq) connect via wireless with little problems, but sometimes when the missus goes on her laptop, the wireless connection lags my ethernet connection (so i just tell her to get off whilst im gaming )

What ever it is, my PSU is up for the job
EDIT: And the Asus V9999GT 256MB DDR3 which I am getting in a couple of months time uses 2x 4-pin connectors

lol... the really annoying part is, Caspar doesnt suffer these issues
What kit do you run???
I have (linksys) WRT54g router, connected to a D-Link Modem, the card in my HP is a built in one (not sure of make) and the card on gemmas laptop is a WPC54g (linksys), the 2 adapters for the consoles are Linksys 54g bridge thingies (cant remember their model number, and cant be arsed to google ) and the iPaq is built in too.... I have 2 wirelees range expanders too, but i had the issues without them aswell.... I bought a new all in one linksys adsl modem, router and wap, but made no difference, seemed to cause the network to slow down, so contemplating a change of brand..... not sure....

Re: Building my own PC
I have a Netgear WGR614 wireless router connected to my PC via an ethernet to usb adaptor. The laptop is connected via a pcmcia card made by Corega (cheap and nasty)

You must have a crap router then.
My router "routes" traffic based on demand so my Linux box can be downloading updates while I am playing UO online - no probs here.
