Help required with Kcorp KLS-575 router

Has anyone managed to get the Kcorp router to work with Telewest broadband?
Have followed the Quick Installation Guide to setup the Lan on my Windows 2000 PC to have static IP of 192.168.1.1 with gateway 192.168.1.254
Configured the Router using the browser and then find I cannot access the Internet.
There seems to be activity between the Router and SB4100 cable modem but nothing happening with the Lan light on the router - just stays lit to indicate connection to the PC.
Any clues as to where I am going wrong???

Re: Help required with Kcorp KLS-575 router

Have you tried re-booting the Cable Modem?

Turn the modem, router and PC off.

Turn the Modem back on and let it power up and settle down.

Turn the router back on, let it power up and settle.

Now turn your PC back on.

What happens?

If that doesn't work have you tried taking the router out of the equation completely, plug the Cable Modem directly into your PC. Do you get a connection then?

Night Rider to cable Forum

Can you confirm you have done the obvious, having plugged it all in, of switching the modem / STB, PC, and router off then booting up (in this order)

The STB / modem - allow to stablise
router
PC(s)

edit - doh beaten to it

Have you set those IP's on your PC ?...

Try setting them to obtain IP automatically, reset all (box, router, comp).. and see what happens.

Re: Help required with Kcorp KLS-575 router

Thanks for the responses guys - any help is much appreciated as this is my first wireless network attempt....
Some extra info to work with in respnse to the replies.
If I remove the router alltogether then direct PC to Cable Modem works fine...thank goodness.
I have set the static address on my PC as 192.168.1.1 with gateway of 192.168.1.254, the router has been configured to obtain dynamic IP and I've tried DHCP and without.
Everything seems to checkout but when I try to access internet with Firefox or Explorer it times out - not even sure if the DNS is kicking in.
On the status display there seems to traffic between the router and the cable modem but nothing between the Lan and the router? Or maybe I'm reading that wrong.
All the indicators on the router look good (to me!) steady pwr,wlan,lan1 with blinking wan.
Only curious note was that at one point I forgot to disable ZoneAlarm and it reported a new network connection with IP address of 192.168.100.0 ????
The Kcorp box describe this installation as simple and quick - would hate to do a complex one. Thanks again in advance for any suggestions you may have.

Kcorp KLS-575 router problem solved!

Problem now sorted - the clue was in the DNS not resolving.
The installation instructions required the PC to be setup with a Static IP address and the router to be setup with a dynamic address. The problem was that setting a static IP address also resulted in a static DNS address of blanks.
So I ignored the instructions and setup both the Router and PC to allocate addresses dynamically and activated the DHCP feature and the job was done
Would just like to say a big thank you to the guys who jumped in to help - when it's all going belly-up and you can't get anything from the manufacturers it's good to know that there are people out there who are prepared, even eager!, to help out.
Cheers guys......
