NTL D4100 batteries

Hi,

This might seem like a silly question, but I need to replace the batteries in our phones and I'm not sure which ones to get. I've looked on a few sites which tell me to buy the 34H which is a NiMH, but the ones we have already are NiCd batteries. Will the 34H be ok?

Thanks
Ally

Re: NTL D4100 batteries

If you have a maplin nearby the easiest thing to do is take the actual battery in with you and they can normally find a replacement.

The difference in price between online and them will be hardly anything.

Re: NTL D4100 batteries

Maybe not.

The NiCd batteries can be left on contsantly charging (as is the case with these phones) without problems, but for a NiMH battery these can only be charged for a set time before problems can arise & they can explode etc.

It all depends upon the charger base. If it is an intelligent charger/base & it detects & stops charging once full then it should be OK, but if not it can be a hazard.

I would reccomend that you put NiCd batteries back into it.
They are still available in some stores.

What size are they? are they AAA?
http://www.ardelectronics.com/ - select "batteries" then "NI-CAD" and then your type. Although you will get them elsewhere too, maybe even your local poundland.

Although NiCd batteries are being discontinued eventually, to be replaced by NiMH as they are supposidly better for all the charging side is different & not all manufacturers have switched over yet.

Re: NTL D4100 batteries

Thanks for the replies.

Desso †“ we donââ‚Âà ‚¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚¢t have a Maplin nearby and canââ‚Âà ‚¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚¢t think of anywhere else local that would sell them.

Zoombini †“ thanks for the info, Iââ‚ ¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚¢d no idea that the NiMH batteries could explode, Iââ‚ ¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚¢m so glad I asked the question now! I will have to take a look at the charger base when I get home, or maybe dig the instructions out to see if it does stop charging when full.

The battery is AAA, but I canââ‚Âà ‚¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚¢t see them on the link, I will take another look though just to make sure!

Thanks

Ally
