Re: Enterprise Treking no more ! [Warning, season 4 spoilers!]

some eps of enterprise were rubbish when it had a plot especially the 2-3 parters or the whole season3 story arc then it was good.

one thing it misses is a funny guy its all so serious u need one liners

Re: Enterprise Treking no more ! [Warning, season 4 spoilers!]

The one problem I had with enteprise was that they made out that it wouldnt be based around technobabble like all of the other treks in the franchise. Unfortunatley this turned out not to be true and has in fact been over reliant on technobabble especially when it comes to time travel.

Sorry, I did not mean that Enterprise was like B5 but that it was closer in style than other Star Trek programs. I could take or leave other Star Treks, if I saw an epsisode then fine, if not I would not care. However, Enterprise had something about it that meant I would purposely watch the next episode.

I would agree B5 was far superior than Enterprise ever could be but I enjoyed the stories and season long arcs none the less.

However, I have been buying the B5 box-set DVDs and rewatching all the episodes (it makes so much more sense the second time around) and I would never consider doing that for Enterpirse.

Season long? the main story of the shaddows ran from season 2 to 4 and there where hints of it in season 1 and 5 aswel. Lets face it, the only SciFi to come close to B5's greatness is SG1 though atlantis and BSG show great potential.

Ah, fair enough. Although, for me, sometimes that "something" that Enterprise had was "what the hell sort of nonsense are they going to dump on us *this* week?!"

I have almost the whole of B5 on video, only missing TKO (no great loss that!) and "Legacies" (because of the stupid way C4 broadcast it) and tend to I watch the whole thing through at least once a year.

For me SG1 was too much a "one schtick" show. The team go to some new world, find some humans who have been cut off/ repressed by the Goa'uld or meet up with some new sort of threat, shoot up some Jaffa or similar, argue about ethics then go home for tea and buns.

It may have got better after the first series, but I just couldn't stay with it.

BSG is interesting (apart from that bloody irritating wobbly camera work, haven't these people heard of tripods and will the camera man keep his sodding fingers off the zoom settings!) the question, however, is whether it can hold itself together after its "big revelations".

As for SG1, I have only just got into it with the current series that is being shown on Sky1 and can safely say that I am now gripped (and with Atlantis)! I had only seen the odd episode from previous series and had never really gotten interested (so perhaps it has improved, Graham).

SG1 really began to shine from the end of season 2, its actually started to go a little bit downhill in the current season appart from the season premier and the recent two parter but its still better than most other series at the moment.
The best two seasons in sg1 IMO would be 5 & 6 wich strangley enough seems to be true for most shows.

EDIT: Im looking forward to the new series, they have brought back apophis, quite possibly the best bad guy in SG1 as he just wont die

EDIT2: though the did go a little enterprise esq with thier method of bringing him back, it apparently involves time travel.

Re: Enterprise Treking no more ! [Warning, season 4 spoilers!]

Resurrecting this thread, I noticed the following news on Digital Spy:

'Next Gen' actors to appear in 'Enterprise' finale

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/article/ds19247.html

Star Trek: The Next Generation actors Jonathan Frakes and Marina Sirtis will make guest appearances in the Enterprise finale, it has been confirmed.

Speaking at a UK conference at the weekend, Frakes said that the pair - last seen together in Star Trek Nemesis - would be starring in a secretive plot for the show's last ever episode.

Filming is due to begin shortly before the episode airs May 13 on UPN in the States.

This is one reason I couldn't take this show any more. All this tying the different time periods together with sighhh! 'TIME TRAVEL'.

Don't they have one single novel idea between them? Pah!

Oh dear, we're back to "Star Drek - The Same Old Plots".

Ye gods, this just smacks of utter desperation on the part of the script writers, "we can't think of what else to do, so let's drag in some characters from one of the other versions of the show".

Re: Enterprise Treking no more ! [Warning, season 4 spoilers!]

Well, I finally got to see Enterprise, season 4, part 1 on Tuesday ... and was dismayed by the same old, same old tripe that is shortly to consign it to the great oblivion that is the final resting place of all tired old franchises.

Dim-witted plot

Great, some BEM has travelled back in time, hooked up with the Nazis and altered events so that the eastern US gets invaded. Even though Hitler couldn't even make it across the 20-odd miles to Britain while our army was in disarray and our air force was down to its last few fighters, somehow the Third Reich has found the resources to cross the Atlantic, aided and abetted by a small band of monsters who are so ill-equipped they have to rely on German help to build themselves a way home. Yeah, right.

Thoughtless set design

I just loved the campaign map on the office wall behind the big boss nasty alien, showing the battle lines in the US but leaving Canada completely blank. Of course, the Canadians were of no strategic importance whatsoever during World War II, and their reaction to an invasion of continental North America would naturally be quite irrelevant. Yeah, right.

Braga et al are still getting off on their masterpiece 'Temporal Cold War' story arc

And they are the only ones who are.

I can only hope Dr Who can fulfil my need for good Sci Fi instead.

I lost interest the instant the very first whiff of time travel emerged in the FIRST series...
