Re: Old Pace Box To New Samsung Box ?

No, that won't work. The smartcard is paired with the box -- it's not like Sky where you can just swap the cards over.

The only way to guarantee yourself a Samsung box is to have STB broadband in a Bromley area, and be on a 750k+ tarriff.

so if i upgrade to 750k from 300k i will get a new box ?

is there a minimum contract bearing in mind the speed changes ?

p.s also the samsung box i have my eye on comes with a ntl card paired to it ....? so would this still not work ?

Nope. The STBs are the property of ntl, & remain so. You shouldn't buy one off Ebay etc., & I don't think it would work anyway.

Re: Old Pace Box To New Samsung Box ?

The Samsung box you have your eye on is the property of NTL, and so it's illegal for you to buy it. Report the seller to eBay.

If you upgrade to 750k you'll get a new box when the speed changes are made to go up to 2Mbit, so you might have to wait a while. If you go up to 1.5Mbit, then you'll definitely get a Samsung.

You can change broadband tiers after a month.

N.B. The above only applies if you have broadband through your STB -- if you use a cable modem, there's no way to guarantee yourself a Samsung.

Why do you want one so badly, anyway?

as stated previously , dont bother trying to buy a box , if you move upto 1.5mb then as far as i know ntl will supply a samsung box , if you are out of your 12 month time then you will be free to cancel anytime you want with am onths notice

Standard feature with ntl's interactive "service" I'm afraid.

We have one of each, and the Pace is more reliable than the Samsung

"Better" as in it's actually going to work well & consistently for all ntl customers?

Or "Better" as in it won't crash/lock up STBs quite as much as it does now?

Re: Old Pace Box To New Samsung Box ?

I press the 'red' button on my NTL Remote Control with a growing increase of trepidation, as more times than not, the STB crashes. However I was pleased to watch some of Tsunami Relief Concert last Saturday on BBCi. However it crashed twice before, finally letting me watch it lol - and it's so slowwwwwwwwwwww.
