Microsoft grievances
Microsoft are shooting themselves in the foot lately and this time it's affecting me.
Microsoft 365 Family to reduce One Drive cloud storage from 6TB(1TB per user) to a shared 2TB across all 6 users.
Microsoft Authenticator on Android to remove the ability to backup to your Microsoft Account but they're giving you the option to backup to a Google One account which is a paid subscription service.
Anyone else annoyed with what they seem to be doing lately?

Re: Microsoft grievances
do you use that storage? 365 can all be done online for free . Obviously you do not get much backup then but I find I keep very little on my onedrive

Atleast 4 people use it all the time for automatic photo backup, 1000s of photos get taken.

I was actually considering cancelling Amazon Prime but I may keep it now.
I'll see if there is going to be an option to pay a little more to keep the 1TB per user.
Edit - no paid option available, looks like I'll have to look at offloading photos onto a computer SDD every year.

114GB so far for myself and likely atleast that with 3 other people, I've got until May 2027 before the changes come into force for me so plenty of time to figure out people's needs, I'll check what storage restrictions get allocated per user when that time comes.

How are you using multiple TBs of storage ?
Even if every photo was 20MB (which is high) you can store over 50,000 in 1TB.

The problem is my 1TB OneDrive family storage will be reduced in May 2027 so instead of 1TB per person it'll be 2TB SHARED between 6 people, I've got no issue just having 1TB each.
The new reduced storage limits have already been introduced for new users and it's a huge reduction.

how long has it taken you to accumulate that much data? if all 4 of you have the same that is still not even half a terabyte so it all depends on how long it has taken and you have all that time again x3 before it is full before 2TB is full.
All my photos are safe on Googles £1.59 a month 150GB allowance.

any photo I take using my phone goes directly to google photos also so I do not have to do anything

Likely over the last 3 years, but the other people have only been on my plan a year, I'll check on them when they visit in December, then decide what I'm going to do later but I'm not that happy with the pricing for Microsoft 365 Family, it now costs £105 a year which is a sharp increase with reduced storage so I maybe up for a change in a year or so but it'll likely piss off the people that use the storage.

I buy when there is offers on and top up full years but I am contemplating dumping it in favour of just using it on the web, still have over a year on it though . I have so much storage plus I still pay for my old kodi themes website so that is an FTP host on top of M$ Google and Amazon. Plus everything is also on local storage so should be ok
