Nothing Starmer has done has moved us any closer to joining the EU. He made warmer noises about it, but there is nothing actually there. Not even an easing of trade that might lead to more.

If we did go back into the EU, there would be some benefits not many but there would be some, but there would be two major downsides that people seem to want to ignore:
1: We would lose the £ and be forced to take the Euro
Any rejoin campaign would have to have secured the concession that we don't have to join the Euro to work. The EU would likely be fine with us joining on the same terms as before (maybe not the rebate).

The ‘will have to join the Euro’ is a bit of a vague target. Currently five countries are members of the EU but have not adopted the Euro. Hypothetically, were the UK to rejoin, one of the conditions would be to ‘move towards adopting the Euro', ‘when conditions are right’ - which is a complete movable feast.

Re: Britain outside the EU

Well we already have half the population kicking off about immigration, health care, schools, housing etc, so all we need is trade deals and the Euro and we're in with a shout of belonging
