Surely everyone but those who voted Green voted for this? The Tories aren't big on increasing benefits either.

So Labour aren’t being honest about something Taf thinks they might do?

is it one of those places where you actually have to take your car in or one where you get the mot over the counter

I drive it in, 40 minutes later I drive it out with either a new MOT or a list of items that need fixing.
I now can't drive the wifes car, it's far too small and uncomfortable for me, so she goes to work in mine and the garage pick hers up and drop it off when done . . still only £45

Don't worry apparently Burnham is going to abolish the requirement for ID to vote, I suppose he has to get his votes from somewhere even if that does include fraud.

One of my neighbours brought up the subject of Road Charging. It had been mentioned a few times in the media, then all went quiet.

You are not one of those who actually thinks the majority on benefits are fully able to work? Many already are working and claiming UC because the cost of living is to high. Many could work but would need the right conditions and support and many simply can not work or would be no use in the workplace due to mental instability
I tell you what I think will happen eventually. Job seekers and those found rightly or often wrongly fit for work will be made to work a certain number of hours for their benefits and businesses will get incentives ie paid to take on job seekers.
What then will happen is some minimum wage earners and unskilled workers will start being made redundant or lose their jobs in some way and then job seekers taken on in their place. Businesses will find a way.

Do you mean this, which comes into effect April 2028?
https://www.gov.uk/government/public...cise-duty-eved
Quote:
This measure implements Electric Vehicle Excise Duty (eVED) as an extension of the current Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) regime.
From 1 April 2028, eVED a new mileage-based charge will apply to BEVs, PHEVs, and HFCEVs that are cars. The rates of tax will be:
3 pence per mile for BEVs and HFCEVs
1.5 pence per mile for PHEVs
