… due to being the leader of a party whose official policy is that the State of Israel has no right to exist, which is, regardless of what weasel-worded apologists might try to claim, purely and simply all that Zionism is. The belief in the existence of a nation state called Israel.

If you are a member of the Green Party, and also a Jew who is a member of a synagogue that believes Israel has a right to exist, you are now subject to censure by your political party. The optics are … troubling.

It’s going to make the run-in interesting this week while he tries to get elected to Starmer’s former seat in Holborn. I notice that he and several others are trying to distance themselves from the motion passed at their party conference this past weekend, but thanks to the way the party operates, it is now policy. A policy he might not have voted for, but then he didn’t stand and speak or vote against it either, despite being party leader.

Anyway. Newsflash for anyone who still thinks the Green Party is for tofu-knitting environmentalists. It is a hard left nut hatch inhabited by people with an unhealthy interest in a very specific form of racism that was popular in parts of Europe in the 1930s and sadly, never seems to have quite gone away.

Apparently not ones whose job it is to argue that Israel shouldn’t exist.

Apart from that, yes, I believe it’s generally super-easy to emigrate to Israel if you’re Jewish.

but only if you're the right kind of Jew,with the right opinions,i guess they're not too hot on free speech over there in the promised land, i wonder why they haven't banned all members of the green party, maybe they're working on that

I think they label them self loathing Jews it's easy to dismiss legitimate criticism that way, in much the same way it is to label anyone who ever disagrees with any of their governments illegal policies as antisemitic

What forced the Jews into finance and money lending, was it because they were banned from land ownership and pretty much all trades were closed off to them.

But if you think that’s what they mean by ‘Zionism is racism’ you’re wilfully deceiving yourself. The text of the motion is in the public domain. Green Party policy is that there should be a single Palestinian state on the land presently occupied by Israel, Gaza and the West Bank.
