VM transferring email services to Junara

Ref:- https://news.virginmediao2.co.uk/hel...mail-services/

Quote:
Today, we’re announcing that we’re transferring the ongoing management of these email services to Junara, a specialist and dedicated email provider owned by Atmail. This means customers who want to continue using their existing Virgin Media email address, as they do today, will be able to move their service to Junara, who will provide a dedicated email platform with improved security features, ongoing service management and specialist support.

Alternatively, customers who do not want to move to Junara will have the option to download their emails and documents and move to another provider of their choice, including free email services, or simply close their email account if they wish.

This change will impact anyone with a Virgin Media email account, including ntlworld.com, blueyonder.co.uk, virgin.net and virginmedia.com email addresses.
Customers have three clear options and time to decide what they want to do:

Option 1: Sign up and move their existing email service to Junara
Option 2: Download their emails and data and move to another provider of their choice
Option 3: Close their existing Virgin Media email account

Customers will have at least 45 days from receiving their first communication to decide what action to take. We will contact customers in phases, starting in September, with clear instructions and details of the support available.

We are also providing an additional 120-day window to support customers who may miss initial communications or need additional help throughout the migration process.

During this period, email accounts can be recovered if necessary, helping ensure important emails, documents or photos are not permanently lost or deleted.

If no action is taken after the 165-day window, the email account will be permanently deleted.

Current customers of Virgin Media’s broadband, landline or TV services will be offered the first 12 months of the new email service free of charge, subject to a 99p transfer fee paid to Junara. Customers who have told us they need additional support will be offered the first 18 months free of charge.

Former Virgin Media customers who no longer have broadband, landline or TV services will need to sign up to a standard plan with Junara if they want to continue using their existing email service.

Customers who do not want to transfer to Junara can download their data and easily move to another provider of their choice, including where there is no cost involved

Re: VM transferring management of email services to Junara

Seems to be very little point being with VM lately

Beginning to wish I'd jumped when the opportunity was there

will prices go down if there's no email?

Well it's always been considered as a free extra.

Re: VM transferring management of email services to Junara

I guess so . . back in the day we had free 'webpages' also

I'll be back with lots of questions regarding how to change my email provider, what I can and can't keep, how this impacts email addresses linked to online gaming, and a whole lot more . . .

Where's the VM community forum when you need it

Huge mistake using a VM email for anything important or gaming echo systems.

You should create some free email accounts from Outlook or Gmail and start changing things over before things go tits up.

Re: VM transferring management of email services to Junara

Alternatively I could dump email altogether

We still (just about) have a postal service so if people need to get in touch they can write . . if they're able to.

Not sure how I'd receive my monthly VM bill without email, but I sure won't miss those emails telling me how brilliant the TV viewing is and what I could be missing

Going back to paper bills sent through the post incurs an extra charge.

I once rang up to complain that the Red Button service wasn't working, the girl at the other end said "You can't complain because it's free"!!

I quickly informed her that, as a customer, it was my right to complain about anything that I wanted to if I was unhappy and that the service was an integral part of the overall service that I paid for, whether or not an individual charge was attributed to it or not.

Probably in their T&C's yeah, along with something about not accepting cheques or cash

Re: VM transferring management of email services to Junara

The only account linked to my ntlworld address(from 2003) is my VM account. I transferred any other accounts away from ntlworld some time ago.
I assume it will be easy to move the VM account email to one of my other addresses.

Basically the same here, question, is there a simple way to move some old saved e mails from files they are in on virgin account . I can forward to my other addresses one by one, hoping for a simpler way.

I did not know that.

Interesting that former customers who still have an ntlworld email can apparently move it.
I still have one, but havent been able to log into it for a long time, but I can still access it via POP3.

Junara seem very good at hiding their prices, but it seems it will be around £6.50 a month.

So that will be the final demise of my old accounts.

Yes this has been the case for a while, it’s fairly obvious that VM really don’t want to support any sort of mail provision. And that’s fair enough as it costs money for which they get nothing back.

Well, possibly except a reason for a customer staying with VM rather than moving on, so not to lose their email address.

Very old legacy email account should have been shut down ages ago. Why do they still work, maybe incompetence on VM’s part?
