The “shadow Home Secretary”? Probably looking for a way out before Jenrick makes his takeover bid.

Re: Reform UK's chronicles
Looks like it's going to be a two horse race between a comedy candidate dressed in a ridiculous outfit, who doesn't really care about the constituents and is only in it for the attention.
Versus Count Binface.

Any news on Farage’s claims of his phone being hacked by Russia?
Are the police and security services investigating?

Re: Reform UK's chronicles
He was singing the praises of Russia in the European parliament, actually he repeated Putin then claimed it his own. The irony

Re: Reform UK's chronicles
From that left-win rag, the Daily Mail. Difference between this and other polls seems to be the inclusion of Restore Britain.
Quote:
More trouble for Farage as megapoll finds Reform might only come third at general election
Nigel Farage's troubles deepened today as a megapoll found Reform is only on track to come third at a general election. The latest research by Electoral Calculus has given an early hint at a 'Burnham bounce', with Labour now seen as remaining the largest party. It could get 217 seats if a national contest was held immediately, ahead of the Tories on 151 and Reform on 127.
The survey - carried out using the 'gold standard' MRP method and taking account of tactical voting - hints at a stark turnaround, with Mr Farage's party previously having enjoyed a significant advantage. Restore Britain has been included in the research for the first time, and appears to be sucking up some of Reform's support - although Rupert Lowe's outfit is only seen as securing one MP. The seat-by-seat estimates - produced on behalf of communications agency PLMR and based on Find Out Now surveys - would leave UK politics in turmoil, with no one party anywhere near a stable majority.
The most likely outcome would be a 'rainbow coalition' of Labour, the Lib Dems and Greens. The latter could make a massive jump from four MPs at the last election to 30, according to the projections. There would be intense haggling over policies, with inevitable fears smaller partners would be able to insist on pet projects - such as another Scottish referendum or a proportional representation voting system.
In terms of support, Labour and Reform were found to be level on 22 per cent, with the Conservatives close behind on 20 per cent. The Lib Dems were on 11 per cent, the Greens 10 per cent and Restore Britain 7 per cent. Fieldwork was carried out between June 23 and June 30 - just after Keir Starmer's resignation announcement - and covered 5,545 adults in Britain. Reform's backing was down from the 31 per cent detected in January. Other polls have shown Reform still with a comfortable lead, although it has seemed to be narrowing.
Martin Baxter, founder of Electoral Calculus, said: 'Our figures show that if a general election were held now, it would result in a hung parliament where even a three-way coalition of Labour, the Liberal Democrats, and the Greens would fall short of a majority. 'For the first time, Restore Britain has been included in our polling, and they are cutting directly into Reform's vote share. That leaves Nigel Farage fighting on two fronts, with the Conservatives also recovering ground.

Re: Reform UK's chronicles
Police investigate Reform donations by mother of fraudster who bankrolled Farage
https://www.thetimes.com/article/7c3...4501d12bc50023
Before any of the usual suspects say " bUt He’S rEsIgNeD!!, the Police investigation started in February 2025, after a referral from that well-known leftie pinko tree-hugging organisation, the Electoral Commission…
Quote:
The Metropolitan Police have launched a criminal investigation into at least £500,000 of donations made to Reform UK by the mother of the convicted fraudster who secretly bankrolled Nigel Farage.
Fiona Cottrell, 67, an aristocrat who was said to have dated Prince Charles in the 1970s and whose son is George *Cottrell, 32, is at the centre of the inquiry in which Scotland Yard has spent more than a year examining potential offences relating to “the evasion of restrictions on donations”.
This relates to concealing or disguising donations derived from an “impermissible” donor to a political party, or the use of “false” information about a donation including the amount or the identity of the donor.
Detectives have interviewed two people under caution…
… Scotland Yard said: “An investigation was launched in February 2025 after a referral was made to the Metropolitan Police by the Electoral Commission relating to donations made to a political party ahead of the 2024 UK general election.
“Detectives from the Met’s special inquiry team are investigating alleged offences under section 61 of the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000. Early investigative advice has been sought from the Crown Prosecution Service and two people have so far been interviewed under caution. No arrests have been made.
“An offence under this section is not one that the Electoral Commission can investigate and, as such, it is a matter for the police.”
The Electoral Commission said: “The Metropolitan Police Service have issued a statement about an ongoing police investigation. We have no further comment.”

I understand why you are confused - I have theories about a Reform donor who was charged with conspiracy to commit financial crimes and fraud, but that’s not what "conspiracy theorist" means…

Re: Reform UK's chronicles
Russia and Reform UK from that unlikely source: Dan Hodges of the Daily Mail
Quote:
'Yes, Reform have been on our radar for a while now, and before that Ukip,' one senior source in the British security and intelligence community told me.
'It's primarily because of the way the Russians have been attempting to infiltrate them. Gill [Former leader of Reform UK Wales] wasn't an isolated case. 'An example of this relates to Gill's 'handler' Voloshyn, who was himself being managed by a key ally of Vladimir Putin called Vladislav Surkov. Nicknamed 'the Grey Cardinal', Surkov was in charge of Putin's destabilisation operations in the West.'Surkov had a list of Western politicians who were deemed to be potentially sympathetic to Russia, and Gill was on it,' a second security services source told me. 'But he wasn't alone. So was another Reform MEP.'
A separate reason Reform may have come to the attention of the British law and order and security establishment is via Cottrell's links to the former Iron Curtain state of Montenegro. Cottrell is based there, and has been visited by Farage and other members of the senior Reform leadership.
While there is no suggestion that Cottrell is involved in such activities, the state is also regarded by UK officials as a major hub for money laundering, people trafficking and – crucially – Russian intelligence operations.
As another figure close to the intelligence community told me: 'Montenegro sits at the sweet spot for the Russians. It's heavily integrated with a lot of major EU and Western institutions.
For all Reform's protestations of innocence, the allegations of sleaze – and worse – keep mounting.
Meanwhile, the party's various self-pitying conspiracy theories keep falling down. The reality is Gill was indeed an agent of Russian influence. And it stretches credibility to breaking point to believe Putin's vast intelligence apparatus was solely focused on a single, obscure MEP from Llangefni.
Then there is 'Posh George', who sits at the centre of the current Reform sleaze storm. He was not initially a person of interest to the UK intelligence services, but first came to the attention of law and order agencies in the United States.
The Federal operation that cornered Cottrell began in 2014. That was two years before Brexit. A full decade before Farage stunned the political establishment by storming into Parliament and soaring to the top of the polls.
To construct this masterful operation to – in Jenrick's words – 'Stop Reform from delivering the change that this country so desperately needs' – the British security establishment didn't just have to be Machiavellian, they had to be psychic. 'We haven't been tracking Ukip and Reform,' one senior security official explained. 'We've been tracking the Russians tracking Ukip and Reform.
'In the beginning, Putin thought they were just a useful potential asset in his disruption and propaganda efforts, which is why they targeted Gill. It's only in the last 18 months that they've seriously started to regard them as a potential party of government.'
