Both channels have also been pulled from Sky, although they still remain available on Freeview at this time.

Re: Virgin TV (2026)

Info below from https://news.virginmediao2.co.uk/vir...no-extra-cost/

Virgin Media O2 is today (May 28, 2026) announcing the launch of two brand-new streaming channels (also known as Fast Ad Supported TV) – 8 out of 10 Cats and Pointless – offering Virgin TV customers even more around-the-clock entertainment, at no extra cost.

8 out of 10 Cats (Ch250) and Pointless (Ch 251) are both available to stream today to all Virgin TV360 and Stream customers, directly from their set-top box. The brand-new streaming channels offer 24/7 access to binge-worthy hit shows and round the clock entertainment.

The new channels which are operated by Banijay Rights join the existing 37 streaming channels available to Virgin TV customers already, which include U&Transport, British Screen Classics and Inside Crime.

The "new" channels are actually replacements for Deal or No Deal and Mythbusters which previously occupied those slots.

Sounds like they're doing what Sky do with their cinema channels ie trying to make it look like new channels are being offered, but conveniently forgetting to mention that the same number of channels have closed.

How utterly 'Pointless'....

If anyone watches these channels 'round the clock', they need help, or their carer to change channel for them.

I packed in with TV in general many years ago.
There's nothing new, it's all been done before (often better), and the way things are filmed nowadays leave much to be desired with lighting and audio quality . . not to mention the pathetic overdose of morals and 'goodness' in almost every story.

Not to mention that the replacement FAST channels are being withheld from the V6. A sign of things to come.

Aye - things were better back then!

We had things back then you can't get nowadays - you know, like rickets, diphtheria, polio, asbestos, outside toilets, lead paint, and Hitler...

Children that respected they're elders , cleaner rivers, food not filled with lord know's what , schools that imparted knowledge. Streets that you could walk in without worrying about a 11 year old on a super charged bike. See a dentist when you need to, not having to wait years for a hospital to sort you out. Not forgetting not having things Richard hates so much

Decades of dedication have contributed to the River Thames enjoying a new lease of life, a report from London Zoological Society (ZSL) has found.

In the 1950s, the Thames was declared "biologically dead" due to industries disposing of chemicals, heavy metals, oils and dyes into the water.

Since then, continued action and policy have seen the return of beloved species such as harbour porpoises and wading birds.

Quote:
There are now far fewer serious pollution incidents damaging our waters than three decades ago. In the 1990s the water and sewerage companies were responsible for over 500 every single year. Since then we have seen a progressive and dramatic drop. In 2020 the number of serious incidents caused by the water companies reached the lowest number ever – 44. That is still 44 too many, and we have made clear the aim must be zero. But while continuing to demand better, we should recognise the major progress that has been made.

• Sewage treatment works are now discharging much lower amounts of harmful chemicals into our rivers: 67% less phosphorus and 79% less ammonia than in 1995. That matters: phosphorus causes eutrophication, a process that starves water of oxygen and kills off wildlife, and ammonia is toxic for aquatic ecosystems.

• The bathing waters around our coasts are in much better condition than they were. In 2021 99% of the 400-plus bathing waters in England met or exceeded the required standards. That is the highest number since new tougher standards were introduced in 2015. Two decades ago, most of those waters would have failed to meet even the minimum standard.
