Brother MFC-L3740CDWE USB
I can connect to my printer over wireless no issue but it won't detect usb link. There aren't any standalone drivers I can find that solve error in device manager, all there is is a error usb link so the computer is detecting it. I tried windows update for drivers, driver booster too, nothing. I tried various other usb ports.
My old Brother was fine over usb

Any help is appreciated thanks

Have you tried a different cable?

Nope. I'm thinking it's ok because the previous printer was working fine with it. It's usb b to usb a.

Re: Brother MFC-L3740CDWE USB
Avg do a free for a week fully functioning driver scanner you could see if that finds it
Drivers are here for it https://www.brother.co.uk/support/mf...0cdw/downloads
With printers you will want to start the installer with the printer disconnected then when it tells you to connect do it and it should search and install the driver for you worth a go is AVG does not work

Re: Brother MFC-L3740CDWE USB
It works. I got an Amazon basic cable and it detected straight away with no errors. I then uninstalled everything and reinstalled connecting the machine when told to do so. It's working thank you both of you

What is the benefit connecting with a cable I thought most people settle for WiFi now?

Master PC. I'm old fashioned. All other devices are connected wirelessly.

Oh it is poop the absolute worst way. The best way is to buy a network printer than plugs into router so works with anything connected to the network . I will never buy a wifi only or usb printer

I very rarely print anything so I'm ok with WiFi for now, but may I ask what is bad about it because speed doesn't seem to be an issue for me and security doesn't bother me for what I print if that could be an issue?

It is purely a connectivity issue I have had countless call outs to wireless printers that keep losing connection and just messing up because of the wifi. I know I see a lot of the bad cuz that was what I did but it happens a lot. Network a lot more stable connectivity

Re: Brother MFC-L3740CDWE USB
I can't plug ethernet because my router is in a different room. The machine is connected 5Ghz to my router then all devices connected to the network find it or for android download brother app to assist printing wirelessly. There are no direct wireless connections from devices to machine, only usb master pc and WiFi to router.

Re: Brother MFC-L3740CDWE USB
I have a 3 way Mesh system in place and one of the nodes I positioned behind the router but because of how mesh works it all just acts like a wired network when cabled to the node

Re: Brother MFC-L3740CDWE USB
You're in a flat like myself am I not mistaken? Why the need for extra coverage? My Asus router serves me well but a lot of that stability is thanks to WiFi 6.

Re: Brother MFC-L3740CDWE USB
2 bed house mate and if you backhaul one node up stairs it works as a wired switch for other devices as well can becomes full speed mesh wifi with zero loss between floors . The difference in price between a 2 node kit and a 3 node kit is marginal
