Of course they'll still face survival challenges in the ocean, 'tis the way of things, but their odds are a lot better there than on land - birds, seals, even raccoons are their habitual predators and normally only a few would run the gamut of these to make it. While lacking intellect, turtles can make connections; you can bet their mom saw that and thought 'that site = all my kids surviving' and so she'll likely nest there again!
Full marks to the beachgoers who didn't interfere on the one hand, and unobtrusively cleared a path for them on the other. That's compassion and thoughtfulness, two qualities all too rare nowadays.
